About the authors

Delton T. Horn is proud to be a curmudgeon.
I go through life with tongue planted firmly in cheek.
I like to entertain people and make them laugh. Not all of my works or comic, although most are. But I think even my serious works have wisps of humor running through them. Why take life so seriously?
I try to price my books as low as possible. I want people to read and enjoy them. Making money is not my goal, although it would be nice...
In the past I have written and performed sketch comedy, stand-up and comedy improvisations, in addition to leading several workshops on improvisation. I wrote and starred in two brief local radio comedy series in Missouri (“Without A Net” and “Narrowed Horizons”).
I wrote a number of non-fiction books in the 1980s, mostly on hobbyist electronics, but also one on Comedy Improvisation. Many of these seem to be available on Amazon from various new and used dealers
A string of office jobs left little time for creative outlets, but now that I have taken early retirement, I am turning his attention to writing fiction, utilizing a number of ideas that have been fermenting in my imagination, and have gone through numerous drafts and re-examinations.
I live quietly with his beloved wife, Alana, and a pair of mildly insane cats. I guess you could say I have become a semi-recluse.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2012Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis book is just ok but not great by any stretch of the imagination. I was expecting it to go into much more detail than it actually did but it is fine for a beginner. I think you can find better books at the library.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2020Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseA nice handy reference book; most people know how to use a meter to test voltage, current, resistance, diodes, capacitors. But there are a lot of other types of parts that are more obscure or use more complex procedures; use this to learn how to test them.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2010Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis book is filled with practical knowledge! Applicable immediately to whatever you are trying to fix. There are a lot of "quick and dirty" test circuits to build that will help you diagnose and troubleshoot circuits.
Only a few chapters into the book I already see it's potential. I only wish there was an updated version covering some of the newer electronic devices. Very useful to the hobbyist as well!!
Cheers!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2011Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis is clearly the best book I have seen yet on electronic repair. Last updated in 1993 so unfortunately still discusses obsolete technology like VCR and CRTs. Also a problem is that the author pretty much says you are crazy if you try to do a repair without a schematic. Well these days what company offers schematic diagrams? Other problem is that the books binding is really poor. The pages come loose almost immediately. Despite these issues the book is well written with diagrams where needed and just the right amount of theory to balance things out.

Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseHow to Test Almost Anything Electronic A great book, I read some of it last night in bed!! Well, she was asleep and time during the day is mostly taken up by other things. So far it is a great help to anyone wanting to get into testing what the hell went wrong with their electrical gear.

Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI bought this for a friend who requested it on drawnames for her secret santa. Apparently, if you type in a bunch of random letters, this is the first thing that comes up. She refused to let me return it, although it was of no use to her. I should have gotten her something I thought she might actually enjoy instead. Book came in great shape though, and was sturdy. Felt great in the gift bag
