I wish it was longer but I can't complain about 69 pages of awesome dragon-riding adventures! Hiccup and friends are trying to get Berk back to normal after the events of the 2nd movie when they are alerted to a dragon problem on a neighboring island. To escape the rising tension among his fellow vikings, Hiccup heads off to see what kind of assistance they can offer. It soon becomes clear that dragons are only part of the problem.

This wasn't what I expected but still good. It's not a story book, but more of a comic book. It's very good quality, excellent colors, vivid images, great illustrations. It has all the the HTTYD characters that we know and love. It does tell stories but in comic book form, as in you follow it square by square, and dialogue is told in word bubbles, etc. Might be tricky for a little kid to follow but once you teach them how to read a comic book, they should be able to follow along.

The panels here are a thousand times better than the other httyd comics I've read. The artists have really captured Hiccup, Toothless, and the other characters. Beautiful. Story-wise it isn't spectacular, and the plot is a little hard to follow, but Hiccup's journey is very interesting and fits well into the overall story arc. My only complaint (except for the unnecessary hot tub incident) was that the Berkians seemed a little too eager to kill Hiccup. Considering all the times he saved them, that seems a little silly.

As a huge fan of the movies and the show, I thought this comic was a great addition into the story. It was a bit odd - but still great. The story moves so fast! It could have been twice as long.

Very beautiful artwork. Quick read. If it wasn't a gift, I'm not sure I would have spent the money ($10) on it.

I liked it. It was a bit short but the art was good and the story was all right. Basically felt like a shorter episode of Dragons.

This is not the HTTYD I love - disappointing and distressing
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 5, 2017Verified Purchase
SO disappointing. Especially having waited so long for this book. I adore HTTYD more than I thought it were possible to love a film franchise, but this story was very weak, unrealistic within the HTTYD sphere, and the characters were not the same ones as in the films - at least when it came to Hiccup. He's not the same Hiccup everyone fell in love with! You can tell the start and end were probably the bits written by DeBlois, as these were characteristic of the films, with great heart, but I actually found the rest of the book quite distressing as a fan. However, I must say that the graphics are beautiful and the drawings of Toothless are stunning.
Perhaps it is more suitable to fans who don't get so emotionally involved in films! This is not the HTTYD I love.

A beautiful treat.

I really enjoyed this. The artwork is beautiful, the story is well paced and the characters are spot on, particularly Hiccup. The delicate touch used to deal with the aftermath of events in How To Train Your Dragon 2 while still having a self contained adventure felt very well done.
