The book serves as a great motivator (with some warnings included) about becoming a location independent professional. As a web developer I found it somewhat targeted towards web developer/programmer types, but it might just do a good job of identifying with the reader. Also, those are probably the easiest professions to fit within a location independent lifestyle.

There were plenty of tips about how to prepare, what to bring, reasons for leaving, how to enjoy the travel like native rather than a vacationer, etc. It also had some good links to resources for purchasing tickets, legal advice, organizing on the move and more.

That being said, a few of the chapters read like a summary of content, and aren't meaty enough to be of much use. One subject that I was interested in but didn't find good coverage of: legal/bureaucratic ramifications of location independence. How to deal with visas, embassies, passports, legal differences in target countries, etc. It has a chapter talking about where to get legal advice, but I'd rather get some universally necessary information from the book than need to hire a lawyer.

I did however get a lot of advice on how to prepare, and some of the resources listed proved to be great.

I would recommend this to any online professionals looking to work from away from the office and live a mobile lifestyle overseas.

This book isn't an exhaustive look at all aspects of traveling but if you are just tossing the idea of an extended trip around in your head then this book will give you lots to think about. It is a quick and easy read and at some points seems more like a conversation over a beer with a new acquaintance. The references at the end of each chapter are also pretty useful.

The writing and editing of the book aren't world class so if you want to look for things to complain about you can certainly find them, but none of that really takes away from the content of the book. It is a travel and lifestyle guidebook not Shakespeare.

This is a good summary for novice travelers and really just some good common sense. Gives some additional resources also. A little too much of an overview if you want more detail. Also since the author is a younger man and still needing to earn money it is obviously difficult for him to give specific views and information for older folks...retirees as well as women. But it is a good place to start with some good suggestions and things to think about for beginners as well as reminders for those who have traveled more. I probably would not recommend this for those who have traveled a good deal if you can't get it for a bargain price.

I believe it is a really good book for its price. While I had a decent knowledge on most of the topics covered, I was at least able to gather a few more ideas or tips here and there. It might be to broad information wise to someone who doesn't know how to approach full-time travel, but I believe it is an excellent introduction for you to continue digging deeper on the web or other resources.

It's worth reading since it is an easy read yet quite enlightening.

This book promises more than it delivers in that most of the suggestions are too general to be very useful. Disappointing overall. It also has sections at the beginning that are more British than American in writing style (author is American). The author acknowledges that others helped get the book into shape for publication but there is no specific attribution for particular sections. It has a slapdash quality to it as though it was thrown together rather quickly. the resource sections at the ends of the chapters aren't very comprehensive and don't have annotations regarding what is to be found therein. Most are online sources. If you read this on a tablet it's a positive that one can click to view the resource (I didn't check for broken links). I'm currently reading "Tales of a Female Nomad," by Rita Golden Gelman, which includes a deeper look at the experience of confronting other cultures and developing self-knowledge along the way. Gelman isn't presenting her story as a "how-to" but in fact offers lots of useful and specific information about how one might manage getting around and finding places to stay in one's travels. I recommend Gelman's book highly to those interested in the nomadic lifestyle.

Colin has been an inspiration to me for years and in this small book that you'll breeze through it's as if you are sitting across the table from him and he's answering your questions about how you can literally travel non-stop. From making the decision about whether or not to travel full time to how your friends and family might take this change to how to pack and prepare for your trip it's all in the book. No topic is taboo and Colin readily presents his experience and how you can avoid some mistakes too.

Even if you're not prepared to go full in to a life of non-stop globetrotting there are some great pieces of advice baked in here so that if you do decide to go on an extended trip you'll know exactly what and how to do it. I certainly enjoyed this book and will revisit my notes and bookmarks when preparing to go on my next big travel adventure.

As one who likes to travel and does so on a regular basis - but has never thought of being a full time traveller - i was fascinated by the preparations and detail planning Colin undertook to begin this new life. Much of what he suggests from his unique experience is extremely relevant to the more casual traveller as well and it will certainly play a part in changing the way I approach future travel. It is an interesting, well written, positive and helpful book and I have no problem recommending it to other travellers.
