If any reader began this book by thinking that vegans are dour zealots, that person will have shed that opinion by the end of the first chapter. This book makes veganism look cool and, even more important, doable! It is an excellent resource for both newbies and old hands at the vegan life. Get it and read it!

I just finished this amazing book, and it is not only educational, but extremely witty and clever. I am not vegan, yet, but this book inspired me to think about my diet and incorporate more plant-based food. I loved the chapters on vegan cleaning products, makeup and clothing. Very enlightening! I feel I now understand how to be vegan, and will never embarrass myself by asking vegans how they get their iron! I will be trying some recipes that Castoria included in the book. They look very tasty!

Perfect guide for new or seasoned vegans. Veganism goes beyond what's on your plate and Castoria covers it all here: dating, fashion, manners and more. Witty, classy, fun and overall great read. A great guide for vegans everywhere!

I got this for my father who turned vegan after I gave him 'The China Study'. Honestly I'm relieved, due to time restraints I didn't think he would make time to read any book but the humor and diagrams included in this one made it a quick read. Since he travels constantly, the section about airports was really helpful as well.

Before I gave it to him I sat down and read most of it myself and actually found myself laughing out loud, something that was completely unexpected. If you have a friend or loved one that is changing their diet this is a friendly way to show that you care.

In this book, you can find tips for cruelty free eating, living, dating and much much more! Castoria covers the basics of being vegan to help get you started on the right path. In the travel section you can learn everything from where to find the best vegan airport food and what to do if there aren't any vegan options! Castoria dishes on all things beauty in her beauty section! She explains what brands are truly cruelty free! She also dishes on how to handle social situations when others aren't vegan. Castoria covers every day situations that will arise and she tell you how to handle them. This is a great resource for those starting out on a vegan diet for those wanting to learn more!

In How to Vegan Elizabeth Castoria presents a concise, yet complete account of this dietary and lifestyle approach. She begins by defining terms such as vegan, vegetarian and other terms for various approaches to eating. A vegan does not eat any animal products or use any animal products such as in clothing, shoes, etc. By contrast vegetarians do not eat meat but do eat dairy products. Castoria states four reasons for adopting a vegan lifestyle: health, protection of the environment, concern for animals, and concern for others who are involved with the slaughter and mistreatment of animals. She also names a number of organizations that support a vegan lifestyle such as the Humane Society and Compassion Over Killing.

The book is divided into six parts.
1. Basic information
2. Information about food options
3. Behavior in the home
4. Behavior while travelling, for example how to find healthy food in airports
5. Manners to adopt, such as avoiding zoos, circuses and marine mammal shows
6. Recipes, which show that eating vegan can be both adventurous and even fun.

The book also includes short stories about famous people who are vegans.

The appendix of the book lists a large number of resources you can access.

I recommend this book highly for its informational content and especially to people who might be interested in trying a lifestyle that is healthier and better for the planet. It is written in an informative and lively style.
