About the Author
Cathy Bryant has won 14 literary awards, including the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Prize in 2012. She has blogged for the Huffington Post, and her stories and poems have appeared in over 100 different publications, including Pop-shot, The Moth, The Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine and Futuredaze. In 2014 her poem The Poetry Diet (from her first collection, Contains Strong Language and Scenes of a Sexual Nature) was featured on BBC Radio 4's Poetry Please with Roger McGough. She is one of the judges for National Flash Fiction Day’s short flash fiction competition, and co-editor of three volumes of Best of Manchester Poets. Cathy's latest poetry collection is Look At All the Women (Mother’s Milk), and her novel Pride and Regicide was recently published by Crooked Cat. The fact that it took me some time to read this book is in no way a negative reflection on it. I spent the time doing the exercises, which give you some wonderful ideas of what to write.
If you're serious about winning writing competitions, I can't recommend this book enough.
