These are the best low profile Earmuffs on the market along with the Impact Sport... You can use them for about anything. These are a good bedmuff as they are ear Protection from shooting sports. Good for study , shop etc. If you don't mind the deep hole they are an asset to your hearing as well as you mental and emotional health being you can meditate with them , read your Bible and are able to focus more . Whatever it is you like to do and have quietness or to protect your ears , even keep them warm these are your Earmuffs. Buy as many as you can and suggest the put a little padding in them and in sure they will thank you for it no matter what they are used for. It's a amazing how the Impact Sport has that one ear padding separating your ear from wires and circuits. That piece of padding in your L0f brings your ears so much comfort and like increases the NRR. I can't stand to take mine off. I wear it at work in load noises and bed , extremely comfortable. More so when you fill in the open hole with soft foam padding say from cheap acrylic Earmuffs. Go buy you some! Howard Leight is the best in this field.

Not long after this review, I came across Peltor. From that time , until now, I have bought several 3M Peltor earmuffs..whether they be WorkTunes, Listen Only Earmuff headphones, to the Optime Series Earmuffs as well as the PTL and others like the WS ALert XP and Pro-Tac II My first and most comfortable earmuff, that I could use at that time to both serve as a ear warmer and hearing protector was then the lof by Howard Leight/ Honeywell. The Peltor Listen Only series ( WorkStyle) are up there with them. I have discovered that with the Peltor's if the ear cups are a bit shallow, if you cut out a piece real nice fleece, ( Instead of acrylic fur) and place the patch of fleece over the foam, you will, get the most comfortable bed muff/ear warmer/ hearing protector, around. The fleece does not sweat the ears too much, but if your working in the heat that may be different when its hot outside. I think hearing protection manufacturers need to make an insert, that's a nice soft plush kinky type fleece, and a lot more people who are at the range or in an industrial job, even at home mowing or studying, or house work, would really like it so much, that they would wear them maybe too much in some cases,lol. But hey! that's me. I gave my other two sets away, but I'm thinking about getting a third pair. I don't want to be rude and ask for the others back, even though I know they are not really being used.

I bought yet another set which came in today. Tried them out, but still not as comfortable The Peltor Earmuffs. But they did ok, even though they crimped my ears a little ( from added fleece I suspect)
I had a dream someone's hands were covering my ears , cupping them as I was about to shoot my shotgun... and it turned out that I was sleeping in the Lof earmiffs ,and forgot I fell asleep with them on... at least it was a good dream😁

For Me, These Are Great Earmuffs For Long Airplane Rides

These earmuffs are great. I have now worn these earmuff for two transcontinental flights, one 6 hours long, the other 5 hours long. I wore these continuously except when going to the restroom or when talking to a flight attendant. I wear a size 7 3/4 hat. These earmuffs were very comfortable and did not feel too tight nor created any soreness. I needed to adjust the earmuffs against my head to make a seal...I could tell when the seal was good when I pressed the earmuffs and could feel the pressure differential in my eardrums. This is my setup and what I found out...
1. My setup was first to use Audio Technica ATH ANC3 noise cancelling earbuds. I then put these HL earmuffs over the earbuds.
2. This was very very quiet. During the flight, the noise level was equivalent of being in a hotel room with the central air conditioning fan set to medium speed. A room with a window air conditioner would be noticeably louder than what I was hearing with this setup.
3. I was able to listen to classical music. at low levels. I could barely hear any flight attendant announcement. The Audio Technica are pretty good. Putting on these earmuffs cuts the noise level by more than half again. I could barely hear conversations next to me, but could not make out what was said. I had no screaming baby next to me, but I believe this would filter out all the high frequency shrieking (which is what is irritating to me) and only let some of the low frequencies to pass. However after having my own kids, I learned how to only listen for my kids screaming and filter out other kids screaming....sounds weird but I found other parents that can do the same thing...
Overall, for me, these are comfortable over long periods of time. There is pressure against my head that keep the earmuffs sealed. It doesn't bother me but some people may find that pressure annoying or painful if you do not like any pressure on the side of your head. So be aware of this potential downside. But if you can tolerate this pressure, the combination of noise cancelling earbuds and this earmuff is phenomenal and makes for a very quiet airplane ride

Good earmuffs, easy headphone conversion

If you're looking at these you already know that the options for behind the neck earmuffs are limited. The biggest advantage I'm aware of is that behind the neck earmuffs can be worn with a full brim hat. These work fine for that purpose, if a little tight on my giant head. They lost one star for durability. The first pair got ripped off my head while bushhogging under some low branches. One of the wires came out of the ear cup, and when I tried to push it back in it snapped where the wire is crimped. If you're ever in the same boat use some pliers and push the wire back in from in front of the crimp.

Where these shine as far as I'm concerned is as headphones when I'm using power equipment. I thought I'd have to modify them, or the headphones, but both pairs of on-ear donor headphones I tried worked easily- the only modification being snapping the headphone earpieces off of the headband. This is super easy with the highly regarded (and cheap) JVC "Flats" on-ear headphones. In fact, mine were pre-snapped on one side where the earpiece swivels, which prompted this experiment... Simply slip the headphone earpieces into the earmuff cups at a angle, and once they're in and straightened the foam in the cups holds them perfectly in place. The wires run out the ear cup cushion. I used some spiral wire keeper wrap to make the headphone wires on each side run to the middle of the back of the earmuffs.

Now I can comfortably listen to music or an audio book while I mow.

My head is pretty big so I bought the neckband version. It fits really well; there is an elastic strap that goes over the head, but even that is optional since most of the support comes from the band that runs along the back of your head.
