A truly engrossing and captivating collection of artwork rooted in fantasy world created by Mr Rozalski. The origin story is loosely rooted in 1920's Poland overrun by a fantastic bestiary sampling widely ranging world mythologies. Stylistically the artwork is reminiscent of the period paintings by George Harding and Hans Larwin. Personally I find this work both menacing and fascinating. But even if you don't care about art much, think about that - this collection is going to make a truly original coffee table book, that your neighbors Joneses are unlikely to have.

Incredible artbook full of a lot of quality photos. If you bought the Scythe book from him, you'll see a lot of familiar pieces, but this has way more for a better price. He even has a tutorial section in the back with progress pics.
What I love most about this artist is his ability to capture a mood in his imagery. This is not your run of the mill concept art book with 'nice paintings,' but these pieces really tell a story. He's got a way of capturing an atmosphere with his colors and compositions that do more than serve as a pretty little painting.
This would make a great gift for aspiring artists in any visual medium, sequential arts, film, gaming, preproduction animation, etc, or for folks who love a less gaudy steampunk aesthetic. The mechanical creations in his work are well thought out, really fit the country they represent, and FEEL like mechs that would exist in the WWI - WWII era.

The quality of the book itself is very professional. You really get your money's worth. The size is big enough to see the great details in his work, and fits on my ikea shelf just nicely.

Love the book! Solid purchase. However, when it arrived in the mail it was stuck inside an envelope, and so when it arrived all of the corners of the book were damaged. Not cool! I only take one star away because of the shipping, not because of the book itself. I only wish the book could be laid flat to view the images, as some of the images gets cut off by the spine.

Otherwise the book is a feast for the eyes. Highly recommended.

It’s an awesome juxtaposition of countryside/folk with awesome machinery, samurai and other awesome pieces. This book includes many drawings from his imagining of his 1920+ world, but also pictures drawn from his love of werewolves, colossi, and even gnomes! With commentary from the artist in both English and Polish, this is a must-buy for anyone who loves his artwork and world-building from Scythe.

Jakub Rozalski has a way of adding a degree of realism to his robots. The images are painted in the style of period european rural scenes, but with robots! This grounds them in a reality which helps sell the concepts. I have loads of scifi artbooks and this is one of the best. Well worth getting - I've even ordered prints of several of the images for my wall :)
