The HOYA UV (C) filter uses the highest quality heat-resistant tempered glass, which creates a smooth, clear image. This filter cuts out all range of UV rays to give an astounding sharpness and clarity without the least affect on color balance. Constant use for lens protection is recommended. My only real advice with using them is to make sure the lens' front element and both sides of the filter are absolutely clean (use isopropyl alcohol, then distilled water with cotton swabs, buffing any haze away), Then apply a VERY thin coat of lubricant grease to the filter's threads before screwing it on. This will help ensure that you'll be able to get the filter off in the future when necessary. But, be very careful to not apply so much grease that it squeezes out of the threads and migrates onto your lens' glass. After that you only have to keep the front of the filter clean.
I already shot some photos of the moon over the mountain. Very clear image. So far, I love it!
UPDATE 7/30/2011: The B+W MRC #10 filters are also excellent quality. The Hoya filters are generally a little lower priced than the B+W.
It snugs my Tokina 11-16 and is always on it. I never remove the filter from it.
There is no reflections and filter does a good job of transferring quality light to the lens.
I see natural sky color and no cast of any sort.
Indeed a great product and one of the cheapest option in 77mm series.
I also chose this one over the other filters because it was the slim frame one. I read that the normal ones might be too thick for a wide angle and you'll notice it in your shots.
