Before I got this pc I was using an old Presario with dual core and while trying to multitask I would get bogged down. Mostly I used it for my 3d graphics and while rendering it would become unresponsive and I would have to wait for it to start working again. With this machine I can run my 3d programs, send e-mails and surf the web at the same time without any problems. The Beats audio is awesome, and the quad core processor is quick and clocked at 3.2gig. I got this one for 524.00 and MSRP is over 1000.00. very pleased. one thing to keep in mind, if you have older sound, graphic, or DVR cards they wont work with this machine. the connections are different on the new machines. I am very happy.

So HP would only allow me to create USB recovery disk and when my hard drive failed the USB recovery didn't work. I kept getting an error. I called HP and they think the USB drive was corrupted. Now I have to pay and wait for recovery disks. I won't every buy an HP again.

I bought this model on a special deal from Woot for around $370 and not for the current price listed on Amazon of $679.99. I think the price I paid was quite good and would rate this much lower had I paid as much as the price is at the time of this review being written. The main reason that I'm not happy with it is that I also own an HP display and this has some pretty persistent issues with it such that I can never shut down nor put the PC to sleep for fear of my display going off forever.

I'm not sure what causes the issue, but I used to use a Philips display and it worked with no issues with the HP P7-1534 desktop. It wasn't until I replaced it with an HP display that I had problems. About 90% of the time when the PC went to sleep or was shut down, the display would go off (I'd get a "no signal" message when there very well was a signal) and it took a lot of messing around to get it to come back on. The scary part was that restarting, shutting down and powering up, plugging and unplugging the display cables (both VGA and digital) had no effect. It was pretty much "plug and pray". Now, as I said, the PC is just left on all of the time to make sure I don't have to go through this all of the time.

Other than this not insubstantial issue with the display, this is actually a pretty good desktop for the price I paid for it. I run a few 3D games (Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3) and they play well despite the rather lackluster video card. I can run high end software like Photoshop adequately using the video card (not great, but not so slow and kludgy that I get frustrated). Of course, it's great for mundane things like web surfing and basic utlilitarian programs. I'm very pleased with the rather ample RAM and large hard drive on such a low-end machine.

I bought this computer so that I could study virtual machines but I find that it comes with Windows 8 Basic. This version does not have Hyper-v so I will have to try using Virtual Box or VM Ware to study Virtual Machines. Though this tower has a Quad core I do not see it working any faster than my dual core machine, I suspect that windows 8 is resource intensive which slows down all actions. I am seriously considering installing Windows 7 on this machine in hopes of faster response. I am not a fan of Windows 8, I think it should only be used for tablet computers.
