Glad I left the Galaxy reservation

After owning several Galaxy phones for years I can confidently say that I couldn't be happier that I finally took a chance on a different brand. The Galaxies have serious performance problems and other issues, it didn't matter what model I had they always suffered from random restarts for NO REASON. I couldn't rely on them. They also start to get sluggish once a new model came out. Mark my words that this will be a Samsung scandal in the future if they didn't learn from Apple. Anyways, this phone is great and I am actually amazed at the built and software quality of this thing. No random restarts, battery life is amazing, the phone itself looks GORGEOUS (I got the blue one and it's a beauty). It's very slim for the price range (and the main reason I bought this one over other similarly priced devices). I have owned it for several months now and it really is amazing how good a "cheap chinese phone" can be these days. The big guys are in serious trouble if this is how good a low end phone can be (I know it's not technically the lowest of the low but you get my point). Great job Huawei, I hope I can use this thing for a while and when the time comes I'll certainly look for another Huawei phone to replace it with.

Everything works fine on this phone. It's Android 7, and I just feel like they've really worked out all the little dislikes. The MicroSD card is useful for storing applications and integrated pretyy painlessly as a default storage area. The auto updates work as expected, where other devices I have require manual updates despite being set to auto-update. The network performance with the TMobile network is fine, and speeds reliable. Battery performance is fine, and I can go several days without charging and I've never seen it below 50% charge. I also like that it's a fairly minimal and no-frills install of Android.

The beauty of this phone is that it has decent performance and the most important sensors like compass, gps, gyroscope that only the more expensive models have. I've used it for VR games and apps, videos, and all kinds of things. I've compared it to my sons Samsung S7 Edge and it more than holds it own at half the price. I am very pleased with the compromise of price and features. I was a bit hesitant to purchase it because of the brand, until I realized I bought my wife a Huawei phone that has worked perfectly for the past year.

The one downside I have is the glass is not a gorilla glass. I purchased a glass cover for it so I'm ok with that now. Note that the glass is curved on the edges, so if you purchase a hard cover for it then you will see that on the edges it doesn't make total contact. This may annoy some, and I thought I would dislike it, but honestly I don't really care now.

UPDATE:
I now have had this phone for over a year. It has never let me down, crashed, or had any sort of weird problems. I surf the web and read and respond to emails regularly, play music during exercise and long road trips, and of course make phone calls and send texts. Still fully pleased with the phone and it's capabilities.

This is my first phone upgrade in a long time (I was using a Galaxy S3) but I love it! The battery life is great, I use my phone for things like reading books for many hours at a time so I can wear it down pretty quickly that way but when I'm not using my phone for 7 consecutive hours, the battery hardly wavers. I got this for less than $300 and it came out in 2018. I could never say that about a Samsung or iPhone! The phones performance is great, no glitches, no slowing down. The fingerprint reader is surprisingly useful, I wasn't expecting to ever use the feature but it's super handy when you need a quick unlock. The camera is pretty decent too (way better than my S3). I'm really pleased with this product.

Great phone so far for a fraction of the price of an iPhone, Samsung or other big name manufacturer. The build quality is excellent. The display is gorgeous. The call quality is excellent on T-Mobile. Phone is fast, responsive and the fingerprint unlock works beautifully.

Huawei may not be well known in the states, but it is in the rest of the world and for good reason. This is an excellent device at a reasonable price.

I'm happy I took a chance and purchased this phone. There are excellent alternatives to the over-priced phones everyone else is carrying around and this is one of them.

Just keep in mind that this phone will only work on GSM networks - T-Mobile, At&t and the smaller carriers that use their networks. It will not work with Verizon.

Painfully slow internet via my T-Mobile sim card. Most times the page does not load at all. When I place the simcard back into my old phone the internet works fine. It's not a problem with my carrier. The phone service works well. I don't know what the issue is. I contacted Huawai but they did not reply.

Update: Still no reply from Huawai tech support. They have my email and phone number

Update 2: I completed all the recommended troubleshooting tips. I then chatted with an Amazon tech person who helped me troubleshoot further. Mobile data/internet still freezes up, is delayed or doesn't connect at all. I paid good money for this phone. It was new. I have T-Mobile netwrork. Calls work fine but no internet. Even my weather icon does not update.

Update: Still no internet and still no help from Huawei. Total waste of money. I'm going back to Samsung

It's a pity that I do not live in the US but I would have returned it because I bought it because it was a 4gb ram phone. But in general very good cell phone. El mejor telefono relación calidad-precio

Considero que este telefono es de los mejores en su gama, el diseño es muy llamativo (sobre todo el color azul, da una vista de un telefono de al menos $10000 mx, ó unos 450 dolares aprox) el desempeño es muy bueno, no se traba, abre las aplicaciones muy bien, compite con un motorola g5 plus siendo que este huawei tiene mejor diseño (para mi), el lector de huellas funciona genial y desbloquea muy rapido, puedes poner tu dedo en cualquier posición y aun así lo reconoce bien, tiene una opción de que si le pasas el nudillo en la pantalla de lado a lado te deja ocupar 2 aplicaciones a la vez, tambien si deslizas el dedo de abajo a arriba por el lector de huellas abre el panel de notificaciones, entre muchas otras opciones; eso si, la interfaz (el sistema visual) no es muy de mi agrado pero se puede solucionar fácil con un launcher como "Nova", la carga rapida es de lo mejor (vengo de un galaxy prime plus) en media hora ya tienes al menos 50% de bateria, si no es que mas, y la carga completa te dura todo el día escuchando música, viendo youtube, usando apps entre otras cosas; si no necesitas lo mejor de lo mejor pero quieres comprarte algo de buena calidad y que rinda bien este telefono es la opción, no tiene nada que pedir de otros telefonos.
PD.: Por cierto, trae una funda de un plástico medio blando pero duro a la vez (tal vez PP) que te cubre la parte trasera ya que las huellas se quedan marcadas (no mucho pero se distinguen, y mas en el color negro) y ayuda a que si lo pones boca abajo en una superficie plana la pantalla no toca evitando que se llegue a rayar con facilidad.
