Good for sensitive skin ...

I've been using this lotion for a couple of years now and find that it works well for me. I have very sensitive skin and am allergic to a lot of products of this type but I've never had any problems with Hugo and Debra. I can't detect any scent when the lotion is in its tube but I do detect a slight scent after I've applied it to my skin -- it's not unpleasant but be aware that interaction with your skin may produce a slight scent. I've read some reviews of this product that suggest that it does not moisturize enough and, to compensate, you have to apply a lot of it to your dry skin. There are a lot of skin types out there and a lot of skin conditions that require special attention -- personal care products of this type are going to get mixed reviews because they simply will not work for everyone. I'd say that Hugo and Debra All Over Lotion is a product that will give most users good results and is not likely to cause problems for those with sensitive skin.

Getting used to natural smell

I want to like this. I hate fragrances so I'm trying this. It does have an odd odor. I don't think it's any chemical smell, just some of the natural ingredients. I put it on my hands it feels very, very good, I just don't know if I can handle the smell. Bummer. I'm trying. I have another unscented lotion (Acure), and it truly doesn't have a smell like this one. I will try it again tomorrow.

Update: Up another star because I really like this moisturizer! I would give it 4.5 if the option were available. Getting used to the smell. My son likes it too. He is actually allergic to something in the Acure so this one is good for him.

I have multiple allergy sensitivities including soy in all forms. Hugo Naturals has been a dependable product line I have used for several years and I am so thankful for it. From All Over Lotion to Bath & Shower Gel to Shampoo & Conditioner, I can use them safely without reaction. My favorite has been the orange and vanilla scented line. I am quite sad to learn from my local store that the company is no longer producing this product but so grateful to have found what must be the last of the supply on Amazon. Thank you!

I have been using this product for years and I love this lotion! I have many different allergies, and it is very difficult to find products I can use without causing issues. This is by far my favorite lotion I have tried - non-greasy (which is VERY important to me), smells great (the vanilla and sweet orange), doesn't clump weird in the bottle, actually moisturizes, and not a bad price!

My only complaints are: I wish the packaging was more environmentally friendly, and that they had more scents.

The lotion itself is good quality and works well, the ingredient list is awesome, but the smell is not good at all. Some unscented products have chemical/medicinal/earthy smells that aren't so bad or that fade quickly, but not this one. I tolerated it for a few days because the lotion itself works for my dry skin but the smell is comparable to Elmer's White School Glue. It's not necessarily a terrible/nasty smell and it's very faint after application but getting whiffs of it throughout the day is unpleasant. I will probably try one of their scented lotions (if I can tolerate the ingredients) because I like the lotion (and love the ingredient list!) but hate the smell.

If it isn't broken don't fix it

What can I say...if it isn't broken, don't fix it. I had the previous recipe which was just perfect. I was so happy with the way it hydrated my skin, the slight scent it had and how long it lasted. Now, well things have changed. The scent is off from the original version, my hands don't feel nearly as soft and hydrated and I'm overall unsatisfied with this product. I will continue to use it but it's very sad the company did this. I thought I finally found my 'wholy grail' of lotion and now I'm back to the drawing board.

If this is your first time trying to find a good natural lotion, you won't be disappointed. But if you knew what this product was like before, you will shake your head wondering why they changed the recipe. Unfortunately, I'm now left wondering if I should continue trying their products. Nothing like getting used to a product and have it up and change on you.

I really love the feel of this lotion. It is light and definitely leaves me feeling moisturized. I also love the smell of grapefruit and have many grapefruit products. Although I admire the Hugo brand, this lotion is only so-so for me. The smell is very sweet, almost like candy. I feel like it is a smell I would have liked a lot in middle school, but not seems a bit "young" for me.

This product doesn't absorb very well and is rather thick, but it isn't oily. Think overnight foot cream or hand cream for texture and absorbancy. Given my severe soy and gluten allergies, it's one of the few lotions that I've found that doesn't give me hives. It's a welcome alternative to using pure olive oil or coconut oil for moisturizing.
