Not the right size grip (crucible or finger end)
A little more flexible/flimsy than I was expecting
Not a terrible product, but clearly designed and intended to be used with small-ish jewelry crucibles, rather than my 3kg (aluminum) one. Can't even get the grip area around 1/3 of the crucible (and not even entirely around a soda can), if that gives you an idea of the scale these tongs are designed for.
Even just squeezing the handles together allows these things to flex a great deal. They return to their original shape, but it's clear these are made of soft, cheap Stainless. The rivet that holds them together looks to be of similar cheap and Chinese construction, and I wonder how long it would hold up.
Wish the description was a little more clear, I suspected these might be too small but took a chance anyway. I ended up using my fireplace tongs as they were surprisingly close to the right size for a size 3-4 (3kg - 4kg aluminum) crucible. I could probably bend these into a shadow that would work, but I'd be terrified that the hinge would break in the middle of a transfer and I might drop the crucible. Yikes!
