Katie and Bowie.
Katie is new to Aspen Cove. Bowie has been gone for close to ten years, serving in the military. A terrible tragedy, which broke his heart, sent him running. His return is only temporary. While Aspen Cove is home, the town holds too many dark memories. A past he hasn't been able to let go of for nearly a decade. Katie has had a rough life growing up as a child who was mostly sick and as an adult smothered under the protectiveness of both her parents. One of the many aspects I admired about Katie was her determination. Due to her past, she decided to live in the present and go for the things she wanted. One of those things was a broken, disheartened ex-military soldier who found it difficult to fight off his attraction and the strong connection he had to Katie. I won't give any details away but I will tell you emotions run high. And the second half of the book brings a good amount of angst. There are some secrets to be revealed and you'll be on the edge of your seat waiting for that moment, and the result of what that brings.
So, while Katie and Bowie have many hurdles to jump; their love for each other is strong. This book has an amazing happily-ever-after! I recommend you try out this series. It has all the feels, amazing secondary characters, plenty of steam, and the writing talent to engage and endear you to every page.
This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. :)
Katie needed a place away from her smothering parents and Bea provided her with the perfect opportunity. It took a lot of courage to leave Texas and move to Aspen Cove. Bowie needed someone to challenge him, to prove life is still worth living. Katie gave him a reason to share his heart again. Their road was rocky, with some twists and turns, and I rooted for them to find their HEA. They both deserved happiness.
Aspen Cove is chock full of interesting, quirky, realistic characters that I can't wait to get to know better. I am really looking forward to meeting more residents as the series unfolds.
If you are looking for a well-written story with developed characters; with heart and soul; a real page-turner; then I suggest you read One Hundred Heartbeats. This story is a standalone but you will get more enjoyment if you read One Hundred Reasons first. The first story introduces the reader to so many aspects of Aspen Cove. Knowing these things will make the second book more meaningful.
I honestly have no idea. I really loved this book! Katie has to be my second favorite character in the series, and her story was worth the read. Bowie was her perfect match and the romance between them was tender and heart pounding to say the least!
I will honestly say this one was better than the first with a heartwarming ending about life's miracles coming full circle.
