I'm fairly new to running and I found this book to be extremely inspiring. I liked the fact that each reason was a short read that had hidden gems, so that one may return in the future to whichever reason that particularly resonated with him or her. The information contained in his book can be applied to any distance running (I read it before my second marathon) but many of the reasons can also be applied to any goals in one's life.
My only criticism is that at some points the author's description of her own time and race accomplishments turned me off. While I was impressed by the fact she repeatedly said that she has never dnf'ed (did not finish), I think those statments were unnecessary and may infact serve as deterent for those who may have had to make the difficult decision to drop from a race. However I understand how those of a more competitive nature may find that inspiring, I am not really a competitve person so I would have preferred some parts to be more universal vs. personal. But overall I highly, highly recommend it.

Great book if you are considering any endurance activity not just 100k. For anyone who's dabbled in participating in endurance events it's ALL about the mental side of Why you are there and what to keep running for. This book is a great insight into the mindset of running long distance and really got me thinking about why it's great to be healthy and have goals.

It took about 5 seconds to realize I had just purchased a clunker. I opened up the kindle book only to find that I had lost the first 15% of the book to acknowledgements, table of contents, and preface before even getting to the introduction. Then after reading the first 4 "reasons" it became totally obvious that this book had absolutely nothing to offer. Skip this book.
