Editorial Reviews

Review

"A clever concept and comical cougars give readers a hot dose of humor as well as A Hunka Hunka Nursing Love. Don't miss Kathryn Maeglin's delightful debut."  --Pamela Morsi, USA Today Bestselling Author

"Kathryn Maeglin enchants as she weaves through the vagaries of life while dating and caring for an older parent. Ms. Maeglin addresses issues of aging some of us wish to ignore, but does it in such a way that we grow to love her endearing characters. Well done. From the beginning scene to the end, this book is about passion and compassion, which we all need in our lives. Excellent and entertaining!" --Emma Wildes, National Bestselling Author of Ruined by Moonlight and Twice Fallen

"Surprisingly layered with deeply realistic characters and situations that many are facing, Maeglin's debut offering is clever, heartwarming and full of situations that range from laugh out loud funny to tear-inducing. 5 Stars" --I Am, Indeed: the Place to Find Your Next Read

"This story had a lot of fun and interesting elements in it (cougar, senior-citizen and same-sex love stories), yet . . . the author knows how to tie them together seamlessly and make it sweet and heartwarming. I really enjoyed this story and even admit that I wouldn't mind reading it again." --The Reading Cafe

". . . this is a well-crafted love story that sensitively addresses the issues of caring for aging parents. I also thought the author did a good job with character development." --Manic Readers
4.5 Stars --Chick Lit Plus

I was hesitant about reading this one as the cover kinda threw me off. Though I am glad I picked it up!
Valerie the main character is a little older than what I normally read (44) and there are a few scenes in the book that kinda made me cringe (think old, and I'm talking 80-90 year old almost sex). That just wasn't something I even want to think about!!!

The story mostly revolves around Valerie trying to get her aging mother to accept help or move into an assisted living facility, and Helen, her mother, but Helen is set on staying in the house where she feels a connection to her dead husband; though she doesn't tell Valerie this. All of that leads Valerie to start a business that provides home health aides and physical therapists for older ladies. From the name of the book you can guess what gender those aides are!

We met Keith early in the story and didn't hear too much more about him. Then all of a sudden he's back and working for Valerie as a "Home Health Hunk".

This is a love story and there is tragedy, and while there was a lot of jumping around, most of the story was easy to follow!

Don't let the cover or the title fool you. This isn't a fluff book. It surprised me and was very well written and the characters were wonderful. I hope that there is a follow up to this because I want to see where Val and Keith end up. I was very pleased by the writing and editing.

This is a wonderful first novel by Kathryn Maeglin. I laughed out loud in several places (usually a rare event when reading), and I got teary-eyed in other places. The story grabbed me from the beginning: I didn't want to put it down.

Imagine a home health care agency that hires "hunky" male nurses to be home health care workers for little old ladies--then imagine the female boss falling for one of the hunks. It's an enjoyable tale of love found and lost. My only criticism was occasionally I had to reread a page here and there when the scene changed from one set of characters to another without warning, but overall, I did enjoy the writing and the story. It was definitely a different scenario!

Nice character development woven into an interesting storyline. The character of Valerie is quite believable and her connection to all characters a refreshing change in women's fiction. If you are looking for a good summer read with many levels to relate to, you won't be disappointed!

I really enjoyed reading this book, it was so many things all at once. I love the funny aspects mixed in with the romance. This was a story that I can relate to and feel that many others can as well. The story has many twists and turns that you don't see coming which kept me involved and unable to set the book down.

I would highly recommend, this is a GREAT read!

For this being the author's debut book, she did an excellent job. And like I said above: you can't go by just the title or the book cover, because there is just so much more to this story than you can even imagine.

This is NOT just your ordinary romance book. This is so much more than that.

This story is both heart-warming and heart wrenching at the same time. There were also times I was rolling on the floor with laughter. I could personally relate to some of the situations going on, so much so, that I want to lash out and hit something, in order to release my built up anger and frustrations.

Her character are very well developed, and this author also covers a multitude of issues. Including how to deal with an aging parent who won't admit they need help, how being a workaholic can cost you the most precious things in life, finding your happy HEA in the mists of a crisis, and learning how to be grateful for the things you have, rather than focusing on the things you don't have..

This story is about both passion and compassion, too.

The story flows so well, that before you know it...you've reached the end. And oh what a great ending it was, too. A little bit sad, but it has a great HEA ending. The characters in this story involves a lesbian couple, a hunky male nurse, a workaholic middle aged woman, a elderly woman and man who lucky enough to find a second chance at love again, and a whole host of other people are involved, too.

Too bad we can go as high as a 5 star rating, because this book deserves at least a 10.

I would highly recommend this book to everyone. If the author keeps writing like this, she will have a fantastic future a head of her. I will watching to see when her next book hits the shelves, for sure!

The story holds together well and is really amusing. Part of it deals with the difficulty that older people have with accepting home health care, the problems of being a home health care provider, and the amusing situations that evolve. I like the way the author managed to mix all this into a realistic and romantic romance. Great work!
