Hunt No Further For A Great Soundtrack!

One high sustained note in a violin, then another giving way to some harmony, then some dissonance, which in turn, gives way to feelings of the unknown, yet a searching for something. Then, the main theme is stated with the horns and the driving beat starts with power and suspense in the drums and the basses. The theme is the kind that denotes determination and courage. I have not seen the movie yet, but I love to listen to the music first to let my imagination take me to different levels of feelings and different images. Picture the hero riding through a dark, foreboding forest at night. The moon is going in and out of the clouds, casting shadows, and he senses evil is near. He gets glimpse here and there, then his horse rears up, throwing him off, and he is confronted with the evil that he has felt. He fights the creature finally killing it, or has he? It seems to appear and disappear at will. It will take all of his skill to put this evil to rest. Steve Jablonsky is a very accomplished composer, and he has done a great job with this music. He has used each piece of the orchestra to help him set the mood of suspense and horror, courage and disgust, struggle and triumph. I love music that is dramatic, epic, and has themes that you can recognize and that can stand alone, apart from the movie. This music does just that. He phrases his music quite well, giving well placed moments of silence where it is needed, and he varies the rhythms and the pulse setting moods for action or reflection. Track 7, I Must Remember, is one of the tracks where he uses a harp, strings, and a piano to give that pensive feeling. Track 8, Good Hunting, is one of my favorites, having that driving beat, and he uses horns, strings and the synthesizer to create a unique sound that is quite suspenseful and full of determination. As I think about it, it reminds me of what Christophe Beck did for Edge of Tomorrow, another one of my favorite albums and composters. Track 13, By Iron and Fire, is another one of my favorites and it is the longest track at 11:26. It begins with these cavernous sounds like pipes being hit and the music being played in a cave. Then the theme is played in a very sinister way, you can feel the conflict and tension in the music, the action and battle, as if the different pieces of the orchestra were also battling amongst themselves. The last track, Track 14, At Your Service, is really neat. It is a great way to end this album, with the synthesizer giving the beat, then the strings coming in, giving rise to the main theme being triumphantly played by the horns and then the trumpets. He does not use the trumpets very much in this album, so it is well placed here. The main theme is played in the major key now, resolving the conflicts and denoting success to The Last Witch Hunter. What a great soundtrack to come out just before Halloween. This was no trick; it was all treat. Enjoy!

Premesso che ho sempre adorato questa colonna sonora, motivo che mi ha spinto a comprare questo CD audio che oggi non'è di certo "regalato", debbo dire che sono rimasto piacevolmente sorpreso della qualità audio di questo supporto davvero ben registrato.
I master di partenza devono essere stati di ottimo livello qualitativo e chi ha poi proceduto nella fase di masterizzazione e post produzione ha fatto tutto quello che doveva.
Palcoscenico sonoro, estensione in frequenza, dinamica .. etc. etc.
Ascoltato su impianto audio Hi-End non'ha deluso le aspettative e riesce a regalare grandi emozioni di ascolto.
Tecnicamente parlando il supporto è davvero consigliato, discorso diverso invece riguardo la colonna sonora di per se che deve piacere.
La premessa l'ho già fatta ad inizio recensione, per tanto non posso fare altro che consigliarne l'acquisto.

Einen Namen hat sich Steve Jablonsky mit seinen von Elektrik dominierten Transformers-Scores gemacht. Bei Enders Game konnte er mich mit einem Stilwechsel, ungewohnt ruhigen Klängen überraschen. Mit seinem Soundtrack zu The last Witch Hunter ist ihm in meinen Augen wieder eine Überraschung gelungen.
Jablonsky setzt hier zu über 90 % auf Orchester und wenn er mal Elektrik einfließen lässt, fällt es fast nicht auf. Jablonsky bringt konsequent dunkle, aber auch dynamische Kompositionen zu Gehör. Streichorchester dominiert sehr oft die Musik, wird aber durch Blasorchester und wuchtige Trommeln immer wieder super akzentuiert. Besonders an den Trommeln wird jeder seine Freude haben, der gerne Basslastigkeit voll ausgereizt sieht.
Hörbar ist jeder einzelne Track auf dem Score.

Normalerweise bin ich ein Fan von Steve Jablonskys Scores und da mir der Film gefallen hat, schlug ich natürlich auch bei dieser CD zu. Leider stellte sich heraus, dass die Musik wunderbar zu den Bildern des Streifens passt, losgelöst davon jedoch wenig packend oder eingängig ist. Das Hauptthema mag oft genug erklingen, um es als solches zu erkennen und ist recht passend, aber der Rest versinkt irgendwo in der Nichtigkeit und Monotonie. Da höre ich lieber noch einmal alle Transformers-Filme.
