There are a couple of things that make this work well on the page as opposed to a CGI-packed action blockbuster movie. For a start, Kuzneski can write well enough to allow you to visualise the action in glorious High Definition. He creates a good historical context for the adventure in The Hunters, the assembled team being sent out to Russia and Romania on the trail of the missing Romanian national gold and treasure reserve, supposedly transported by train to Russia just before the Great War. At a time when Russia was undergoing great internal upheaval however, the whereabouts of the missing treasure is now unknown. To find it and retrieve it - when there are other mysterious and dangerous agencies looking for it as well - will require the combined efforts of experts across a range of disciplines.
That's where The Hunters comes into its own. It takes time to develop a team of characters with distinct personalities who between them combine a healthy balance between disciplined organisation and humorous unpredictability.Read more ›
If you complained latest books were loosing speed then you won't complain anymore
Fast action, no time to get bored, more funny and more human than a pompous Dan Brown !
I found the story fascinating as it built up sort of a "Dan Brown" story crossed with Indiana Jones and Lara Croft. combined with some excellent action, almost pitched battles, strange trains it all had more sitting up late in bed to see how it worked out.
The weapons expert was a crackup with his funny naïve comments thru to his "you can NEVER have too much firepower", lmao........He helped to make the series quite humorous too.
Anyone looking for small team military action, espionage, tomb raider type treasures with several twists and turns then you cannot go wrong with this book
Spoiler alert: The only thing that took away from my joy (my own private moral dilemma) was the feeling that these items were being found by a private investor and not really to be shared with the peoples to whom those archaeological finds belonged to, because the private investor up to something that for right now is a conspiracy... There we're also deaths of good people whose only reason for their death was that they were in the wrong place at the wrong time, or trying to prevent the theft of their country's property, of course there was also the death of some greedy treasure hunters that were the nemesis of the private investors team of treasure hunters. The book captured my attention, and was a somewhat satisfying read -my joy was tempered by the actions taken in the finding of these items and what was done with them afterwards. Wierdly this elite treasure hunting group was made up of really good hearted people which kind of made it odd with the fact they were doing this for the money.
