This one features Sasha, the jaguar assassin from the last book, that worked for Nero. Nero is a secret agency that does shifter experiments on people, with or without their knowledge or approval. The other main character is Aren, Adam’s twin brother who one of the main characters from the first book. Sasha was pretty much one of the vilians from the last book. She actually shot Aren, and helped set up the fight that kills the pack alpha, who was also Aren and Adam’s father. Needless to say, Sasha didn’t win any points with the wolf pack. So the fact that Aren knew Sasha was his mate the first time he had skin contact with her, makes for an interesting premise, and also helped move the story along.
Sasha was an interesting character. As a human cop that gets bit by a Nero jaguar and is taken by Nero to use as an assassin, her life is not her own. All of this was against her will, but when she is promised a “cure” she does what she is told. Aren, as brother to the alpha, has three enemies, and they are, Nero, jaguars, and Sasha in particular. And none of that matters to him after realizing she is his mate.
I always enjoy a Lisa Kessler book. I love paranormal romance, and she knows how to write a good one. Her characters are always well realized, her premises well plotted, and this book was no different. There’s also lots of action, and life and death moments. Since it is a series, we get to see the characters from the last book and that’s always a plus in a series for me. Adam is now the alpha since he was the first born of the twins, and after he becomes alpha, he now has certain abilities that come with the title. Just an example of the good world building that Ms. Kessler always includes in her stories.
The third book in this series, Blood Moon, is coming out later this month, and I already have it to read soon. This is good news as this series just gets better as it goes.
I recommend this book, and series to all adult, paranormal romance fans, but I would definitely start with the first one, as they do go in order. (PureTextuality, com)
This book is about the relationship between Aren and Sasha. The author alternates between POV of both characters in first person. It works well because she tells the reader at the beginning of each chapter whose point-of-view the chapter is written from.
I also liked how the author found ways to humanize Sasha and make her a likable character, even after everything she did in the first book. I didn’t always follow Sasha’s logic, but I was able to empathize with her.
Probably because this relationship was so challenging, I liked this book better than the first one. I enjoyed watching Aren have to fight for his mate’s affection. It’s not that I’m mean and want to see characters suffer. It’s just that it’s a nice change compared to all the insta-love books I have read recently.
One of the other things I appreciated was how tastefully written the sex scenes were. Lisa Kessler does a good job of making it hot without being vulgar. She also was very skillful in writing some of these scenes from a male point-of-view.
The best thing about Hunter’s Moon is the danger and suspense. There’s a lot going on in this book that makes you worry for the characters, especially the mystery of the stalker’s identity and intentions.
The only negative I found was that, for a published book, not an ARC, there was some need for editing. I saw problems with missing punctuation and missing words.
Overall, I loved Hunter’s Moon. I thought it was a great book. I’m looking forward to reading book three, Blood Moon.

I thought I wouldn't like Sasha because she was technically a bad guy in the last book and while I refuse to forgive her for messing up Aren's ankle I ended up with a soft spot for ex-cop, gun blazing jaguars. I admire her commitment to protecting her sister even if I found her self-blaming a little annoying. There is only so much one can continue exist believing they should have done something different before you just have to accept it and move on! Thankfully Sasha gets there in the end with some help from alpha male Aren. I love that they do yoga together, it's too cute! Their relationship is a trust roller coaster thanks to buttface Sebastian but Aren is willing to put his whole life on the line for Sasha so they work it out.
The prejudice against jaguars in the werewolf pack is still alive and kicking. It will be interesting how Kessler develops the plot to help all of these stuck up wolfies get over themselves. This book is well worth the read - the plot is dynamic with enough twists to keep you guessing and the characters have enough spunk to fill several more books. I've added this to my list of shifter books to read and I can't wait for the next book to come out - I can tell it's going to be a stunner! Only 3 stars because it's not much different from other shifter romance books and there isn't anything in particular that would set it apart.

This book tells the story of Aren and Sasha, Their romance is filled with catastrophic events impacting devastatingly on their lives, the lives of those they love and their relationship. This had me rooting for their love to find a way, throughout the story - even though I knew the outcome having previously read the next book in the same series!
This is a great book by a fantastic author, the sort of book that keeps you on the edge of your seat, one you really don't want to put down and leaves you wanting to learn more about the beautifully crafted characters and events. Very highly recommend this book!
Aren is a werewolf, who against his will battles his attraction to Sasha and finally accepts that she is his mate. Aren is a very loyal, hot werewolf who trusts his instincts to guide him with his relationship with Sasha. Sasha and Aren’s story is hot and very sensual…… I can actually feel the characters making love and connecting emotionally. The love scenes are especially good from Aren’s point of view.
I like Sasha as she is a complex character and her motivations are always interesting and I enviably want to know more.
I knew when I read Moonlight that I would be buying the follow up eBook Hunter’s Moon as I just had to know more about Sasha’s character
I also love the twists and turns with Nero as they become more depraved and scarier as the story progresses. I like the complexity of Nero. Their true goals coming to light provides their motivations, which are not obvious to the reader. Thornhill is truly a depraved character. Sebastian is the enigma of the series so far and adds another layer of twists and turns to the storyline.
Another intriguing character is Nadya. She is Sasha’s kid sister, who turns out to be secretly psychic and Nero’s actual target all along. Being a loyal reader and curious person, I will be buying book 3 Blood Moon.
If you love the paranormal genre do yourself a favour and try Lisa Kessler’s fast paced, well written hot paranormal romances with some serious ass kicking thrown in.
