Waiting on the next one!
Bradshaw did a better job here dealing the clues out over the course of the novel. And she avoided the easy out of falling back on a serial killer story line.
I’ll read more in this series if Bradshaw writes them.

Sloane Monroe, a Private Investigator who’s questioning her choice of career after several people she cared about suffered during recent investigations. Not having read the first five books in the series, I can only guess at what happened, but that didn’t spoil my enjoyment as this reads well as a standalone.
Then there’s Cade, a local law enforcement officer who could be more than a friend if only Sloane could overcome her fears and doubts and open up. Their relationship was beautifully portrayed through each tentative step as the investigation into his cousin’s murder gathered pace.
Yes, the investigation is personal, adding another layer to the story.
There’s lots of introspection and anxiety, but this doesn’t stop Sloane from being a gutsy and witty PI, with more than a nod or three to Kinsey Millhone, Sue Grafton’s iconic heroine. But Sloane’s no carbon copy.
The pace is steady, building the suspense in small increments. There’s a heavy accent on the characters and their relationships, all skilfully observed and drawn, creating a rich backstory that runs like silk through the story. But this is as much a story about people as it is a murder investigation and better for it, in my opinion.
And having visited Jackson Hole in Wyoming, where the story takes place, it brought back some happy memories.
I will definitely be reading more of the series as I love the author’s distinctive style and rich array of characters.
It is well written, a simple plot with one neon signed red herring towards the end. As with many "series" books it does not tie up all the loose ends and reach a satisfactory conclusion
Some lines I didn't understand so they could be lost in translation somehow. I've never heard of the expression "Good Hell" and neither does "She exhaled enough air to qualify her for a medal in free-range cow-tipping" mean a thing to me. Also "The women glassed the room"??
At one point she told somebody not to lose her cool but on the next page mentions that faking her anger wouldn't be easy so that left me a bit baffled.
I did want to shake Sloane hard a few times as regards her relationship with Cade, I must say !! There were some very funny lines here and there and also a couple of very shocking moments too. The final line was a delight for me as well. Very good indeed.
A fantastic read with some great characters. Loved aunt Bonnie's character. How she was. She was gutsy. Sloane is my favourite character. Loved how she Wouldn't give up and she didn't listen to the sheriff. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
Very easy to get into, great pace and a great plot.
Well written, everything came together and I look forward to the other books in this series!
This is good read that works on the fears of such a situation occurring.
I really enjoyed this book and found it to be one that was hard to put down.
