From the start,Jamie's pregnancy is difficult and in fact, she ends up in the ER, where she is then sedated and operated on in order to save the baby! When the Dr. comes out to find Peter, waiting, he tells him that "it was touch and go because Jamie had lost so much blood from internal bleeding, when the placenta failed to 'detach' from the uterus", but that she was alive, as was their new, 7 lb., healthy baby girl, that they named Caitlin. While still in the hospital, recovering from major surgery, Jamie tells Peter "take the baby out of my sight;she tried to kill me!", thus beginning to start Jamie thinking, that somehow, the baby is "evil", "looks at her like she's an insect" and "hates her"! Of course, this concerns both Peter and Jamie's doctor, who recommends that Jamie see someone who can help her. Jamie does start seeing a psychologist but doesn't tell Peter. Only with the psychologist does Jamie reveal her darkest thoughts about Caitlin which are that Jamie believes that Caitlin was born "evil". The therapist is somewhat alarmed, but she's also dealt with other women who have had "postpartum depression", which she believes Jamie is suffering from. Jamie continues to get more and more anxious around the baby until Peter is getting impatient and begs her to "see someone" and Jamie continues to withhold that she IS seeing someone. Instead of getting better, she seems to be getting worse as time goes on and is absolutlely convinced that Caitlin is trying to kill her!
I don't want to say anymore, because I, personally, would recommend this movie and I don't want to spoil the suspense, which and tension, which is "felt" while viewing this film. The lead actress is Victoria Pratt as "Jamie", who does a brilliant performance from start to finish and you really can't guess what the outcome will be!
