I'm on my feet 9-10 hours a day, 5 days a week and after years of sore feet and shoes not lasting more than six months at most, I stumbled upon the Mall Walker.
This shoe is super comfortable right out of the box. There is no break in period while the shoe forms to your foot. The welt is sewn which is a necessity for me.
Because I'm on my feet so much, they sweat a lot and the glued shoes break down in just a few months.
The soles offer great traction and cushion and always last me at least a full year. Considering the miles I put on them, I can't ask for more.
In addition, they are fairly stylish and look respectable with dress pants, shirt and tie and a breeze to keep shined. Don't ever stop making these! Well, until I can retire anyway.
So I am very pleased with these shoes. Even with my supports in the shoes, they're a comfortable fit and I was able to leave the cushion pad in.
One thing I would note is that the shoe has a pretty high arch. It took my feet a day or two to get accustomed.
UPDATE: after owning three pairs
The shoes are a decent value but are not long lived and cannot be resoled. They last me less than a year in everyday use and cannot be resoled economically. However, as the other brand of shoe I was wearing, a postal oxford, has seen a definite quality drop, there isn't much to choose between the two. And the other shoe costs about double what the HPs cost. It is resolable, but the success of that is hit and miss.
I still recommend them but if you are a heavy guy like me, you may find they wear out quicker than you would like.
Overall,I am pleasantly surprised as I always remembered this brand as cheap (price and quality) from the 1970s when as a teenager with huge feet, they were the only half-stylish shoes I my folks could afford to buy me. The Amazon price was a real deal and so far the shoes seem very well made. Great.
