However, they ruined the shoe by putting a tight, sharp band of elastic around the heel. I have fairly thin ankles, but that little piece of elastic feels like it's slicing into my skin. I've never worn a shoe that hurt that much right when I stepped into it, honestly. It's less of a shoe and more of a torture device, if you're into that sort of thing. It begs the question: don't they have someone try the shoes on before they put them on the market? These should have never made it out of the warehouse.
I hate that I have to give these up - they really are very, very cute, but they are not worth the pain. I wish I would have read the reviews elsewhere on the web, because this is apparently a problem for other people as well.
The only down side is that if you don't wear socks, the insert sticks to your feet and come out when you take your shoes off. But the shoes are so great that I can over look that issue.
I also wish they came in more colors, because I'd buy lots if they made them in different colors instead of the 3 offered on Amazon.
The "Body Shoe" is made of a two pieces of buttery soft kidskin leather that wrap around your foot and toes following an almost organic design that melds with the foot's natural shape. The toe box is angled and doesn't pinch toes in the least, allowing plenty of wiggle room without being overly large. The anatomical last provides minimalist barefoot fit.
The cushioned foot-bed is made of soft leather on top od a dual-density EVA midsole and arch support. The heel counter is firm but forgiving, covered in suede. Elastic around the top of the heel prevent slippage - gentle enough to not hurt if your ankles are on the narrow to average range. Synthetic Dri-lex suede-like fabric lines the inside of the upper and allows your foot to breathe. Contrast stitching in subdued plum trims the leather upper and the edges around the elastics - enough to give it an edge without being over the top.
Sizing is true to size, maybe even a bit large (a nine is a EU 41, instead of a 40) but this wasn't an issue - if anything it keeps your toe from touching the tip as happens with other ballet flats.
The top of the shoe leaves a bit to be desired, with a dark charcoal grey elastic that goes well with the black leather. It looks good as long as you don't move the elastic around. The holes where it goes through the shoe leave marks and buckling on the elastic. Would there be a better alternative though?Read more ›

Wearing these shoes is like walking barefoot!
They are cute enough for dresses and casual enough for shorts, jeans.
These are the funnest, most functional and comfortable pair of shoes. Modeled after a vintage ballet slipper, these amazingly have the appearance of being sporty or alt rock-ish. Read morePublished on February 16, 2013 by A.C.
