Just finished this book a few days ago. It's obvious by reading this book that author Derek Johnson is a SERIOUS Washington Huskies fan and he had tons of respect for the late and great Huskies head coach Don James.
This book was not a butt-kissing book on Huskies football or Don James. Johnson was objective in this book, and he put player and coach quotes in this book that were candid and truth-telling about what when down in the 1975 to 1992 era of UW football.
Yes, the game recaps of various games in the James era were cool to read. But the highlight of this book was the one on one interviews Johnson conducted with UW players such as Dana Hall, Dave Hoffmann, Steve Emtman, Joe Steele, former UW athletic director Mike Lude, Steve Emtman, and others.
Also, if you were a Huskies fan (I wasn't; I was born in the early 1980s and I was a San Diego State Aztecs fan all through Jim Lambright's era) back in the James and Lambright eras (1993-1998), you will appreciate the cold shoulder that former UW athletic director Barbara Hedges was shown later in this book.
If you want to a good book on the 1975 to 1992 period of UW football then I'd suggest you pick up this book.
