Update1: After 2 seasons in operation cutting 1 acre lawn in western WA, it still works great and more than paid for itself in saved labor and time. I had two in-warranty issues. First I had the "collision active" problem as indicated in the other reviews here. It comes up because the magnet holder of the front collision sensor had reliability issues in earlier 450x models. I googled and found the solution: I ordered the "Upgraded white plastic magnet holder for the front of automower Part 501 06 56-02" through my dealer and replaced it myself (it was easy). No "collision active" message comes up after replacing this. The old holder gets loose/dirty and it results in this message. The second issue was with the power supply which quit working after 1.5 years and was replaced by the dealer as well. Hopefully the power supply will get better with time. Overall, I am still very satisfied with the product and considering buying a new one to cover the other section in my yard and to serve as a spare. My yard is relatively flat and I think that even one mower would cover it well most of the time, except maybe in May when the grass grows fast.
Given the technical issues I experienced, my recommendation is to purchase the mower only from reputable dealers who can provide good warranty service, preferably the dealer has to be experienced with the Automower repairs. I found that the customer support of Husqvarna is done only through the dealers.
Update2: One of the motors failed after 2 seasons and it seems to be a common reliability issue mentioned in forums. A replacement motor is $200, but I think that 2 years is not an impressive result for a brushless motor. Quality could be better. Lowering my review rating by one star.
The 450x was installed on my 1.2 acre plot in about a day. The mower is a beautiful sight to watch! Over a period of about 4 days it did a superior job of cutting my bermuda/zoysia grass and only had problems with patches of crabgrass to which we applied herbicide. Then after about 60 or so hours of operation, the unit had a "collision alert" and stopped running. This was reset but it happened several times and the dealer came and took the brand new unit in for an overhaul. A number of parts were replaced. Meanwhile, I was furnished a "loaner" 450x. That mower worked superbly for about 50 mowing hours and then the right hand gearbox failed in the right rear drive assembly. A week or so later, my original mower was returned and started up again. Similar to the first time, the mowing was beautiful and the operation without problems. Then after about 50 hours of operation, I got another "collision alert" and the mower stopped in the middle of the grass. There WAS no collision.. It simply quit running. The collision alert would not reset this time and so I called the dealer and he came and picked up the defective unit. Now.. Lots of people swear this is a great mower. Keep in mind, that my two samples MAY have been just "defectives". One other concern.. Husquvarna has ZERO technical support for consumers in the USA. I was never able to get a factory rep on the phone for a chat. My local dealer DID do everything in his power to keep the unit working, but it was not enough.
Update September 2019. This year a local AutoMower dealer came to my area and reviews suggested that reliability of the 450X mower had improved. I thought about it a lot and decided that if the reliability was improved, it was worth another shot as the MOWING was exceptional. I bought the 450XH mower in Late April and, just as before, initial performance was exceptional. After a couple of months, the "lifted", alarms began anew. The dealer replaced a couple of sensors and the problem when away. After another couple of months, the lifted and lifted rear and shutdowns with no indications began. Sensors were again replaced. Then we lost a front wheel which was from a poor "snap together" design totally unsuitable (IMHO) for the continuous bumpy environment of a lawn. Then we got a second front wheel failure. Again, the "snap together" wheel snapped apart. The dealer replaced it quickly but this time, the cutting wheel had been dragged along for some time as the three wheels allowed the mower blade to (apparently) touch the ground occasionally. These were replaced and we got another week or so of excellent mowing. Then, last week, the "lifted" errors started anew. After a few days and four lifted stoppages, I gave up. The dealer is taking the mower back and we will try another (hopefully) more reliable brand next year. These appear to be simple engineering problems to fix. One wonders why Husquvarna is taking so long to correct these simple mechanical problems in their Premium Automower....
