Frankly, when I purchased it, I had my doubts as to its effectiveness. Yes, it was small and pretty in its tomato design, but I couldn't see how it would help keeping cut tomatoes fresh, even though the product is described as "air tight." I'm still not sure HOW it works, but I sure do know THAT it works. When I'm ready to reuse the tomato, it is just as though I had just placed it in the refrigerator.
So no more soggy, wet tomatoes for me! Glad to have found a solution.
I immediately placed an uncut tomato in it. It was probably a week before I cut the first 2 thin slices. Then another week before another cut. And another week before my third cut.
It has now been 5 weeks and I still have about 1/3 of my tomato AND IT'S STILL FRESH!
I really do have a hard time believing how well this little thing works but it dos.
Because we use tomatoes very sparingly, I've thrown out loads of soft, mushy, black-spotted tomato remnants.
NO MORE! Good to the last slice!
Our only complaint is that it is very hard to open
Has notches on the bottom to keep the vegetable off the floor of the container, keep it fresh.
The lid has a twist-lock mechanism so it locks the air in/out.
Overall, for the price, a great buy!
NOTE: NOT as pictured in current Amazon ad.
* Not as good of twist top as on other products in this line by same company. Very difficult to line up slots and only fits properly one way but you can put on two different ways, too bad they did not slightly off set or make slots of different size. Can be a frustrating little pain when using.
* Not sure how much longer it keeps bulbs fresher, but seems to a LITTLE.
* OVER large for garlic, could be about 1/2 to 2/3rds size and would hold very large garlic bulb cloves.
Would not buy again but not bad product either.
UPDATE 5/4/13: I have two use one at all times for Avocado. Keeps it perfect for as long as a week this has saved me from throwing out expensive avocados!
It is large, but you need it to be on the larger side for those instances when you buy a larger tomato. See photo. The biggie tomatoes fit perfectly. And to address some comments of it being hard to open, make sure you put the lid on properly. If you look on the lid portion, you will see little knobbies. Align those little knobbies with the notch in the bottom part of the container. Once they are aligned, simply twist and you hear a little "click". If you don't line those up and you just press the lid onto the bottom, it will be very difficult to get it back off again.
I have the onion and plan on getting the garlic and the pepper. Please make one for avocados too!

I bought this on the thought that I would use it. However, so far I have not. It seems that I'm eating my tomatoes whole and don't need to store the leftovers. Read morePublished 23 days ago by Prairy Earth
