Review
This is every sci-fi readers dream book! A phenomenal read that explores several different aspects of the science fiction genre. From time-travel and influence of alien species on the development of the human race, to worlds within the Earth's core and creatures born of scientific experimentation, this is the ultimate sci-fi read.
While the mythology of alien creatures and the world at large the author created is what initially draws the read in, it is the emotional and relatable backstory and character development of protagonists Agent Van and Annika that really keep the reader invested. The romance that blooms between the two heroes of this tale helps the romance and sci-fi genres blend beautifully in this novel, and the author does an amazing job of creating a cast of characters both good and bad that elevate Van and Annika's journey ten-fold.
The Verdict
This is a must read book of 2019. One of the best sci-fi reads of the year, the author has created a rich mythology and sci-fi story that readers will be clamoring for more of. While the story has a satisfying conclusion that readers will love, it also introduces enough story elements to hint that a much larger mythology that awaits discovery. An engaging and evenly paced read, this is one of my 2019 Must Read Sci-Fi novels, and if you haven't yet you should grab your own copy of "Hybird" by Rebecca Henry today! - 5 Stars (Anthony Avina)

I enjoyed this read very much. It was a thrilling read, and the action was there almost straight from the start. I never knew what was around the next corner; the direction I expected this book to take was changing all the time as I got deeper into the story. The twists kept surprising me.
I appreciate all the knowledge this book contained, the theories and history of our own Earth. This book had plenty of action, scifi elements and horror. If you are into alien stories, this book is definitely for you.
So why hesitate between four and five stars? I want to stress I really enjoyed reading this book, but it contains elements I am personally not too fond of. "Instant love" is one of my dislikes, but here, I admit, it had a certain history behind it which made it forgivable. Building character personalities was also perhaps a little lost under the action, but I admit I loved Doc and the others as support for Van. The core team worked awesome together, and I had many exciting and terrible moments following their progress through this story.
So, while a certain instant love quality does exist here, and personalities could have had more time to develop, on the whole the action and gripping intrigue was strong, and I found myself accepting things as-is.
I think this was a good read and it kept me entertained.

Sci-fi! Horror! Romance! WOW this book has it all! I don’t usually write book reviews, but I had to for this one because it was such a stunner.
I’m a huge sci-fi fan and have read literally hundreds of sci/fi books. I usually can see plot twists coming from a mile away, but this book had me guessing till the last page. It had all my favorite elements of sci-fi, combined with crazy action and terrifying monsters. Start this one early and prepare to stay up late to finish it, because I couldn’t put it down. But I wasn’t going to be sleeping anyway, because some of the scenes were a major creepfest. I couldn’t get it out of my mind, so a week later I read it again and this is one of those rare books you’ll enjoy even more on the second read. I picked up on so much the second time around.
My favorite character was Doc. He had me in stitches, but all the characters are so unique and quirky and interesting, you can’t help but fall in love with all of them.
The edition I read had a chapter from the author’s next book Conjure Lake in it, and I will definitely be picking that one up.
It's a great book with surprises and a sweet ending. If you like sci-fi and romance, this is for you!

I had to put the book down after Chapter 3 because it was late and I managed to freak myself out! I then kept all my limbs tucked in tight to sleep just in case.
I needed to rush through chapter 6 to find out what had happened ‘down there’ because I felt like I was going to cry.
I had to pause half way through Chapter 7 and just take a moment to awwwww at the romance.
What I’m trying to say is that if an emotion exists, this book WILL make you feel it!
Hybrid is at first glance one of those typical alien infiltration, government secret type books. But as you read, a complex race, history and society is revealed and with every page you realise exactly how much thought and care the author put into planning every aspect of this book! The plot is fairly fast paced which I enjoyed and it kept you in just the perfect amount of suspense. There was never a moment where I felt like it was too fast and I was infinitely grateful when Agent Vans questions were answered in a direct way with no faff or ‘you shall find out soon’
The protagonist Van, isn’t at all what you expect. I went into this expecting a typical macho CIA agent. But what I got was a complex human I couldn’t put into a box and could yet to relate to nonetheless. Annika was similarly surprising! And my god was her true identity/role a PLOT TWIST and a half or what! I seriously did not see THAT coming. Or the other thing or basically anything onwards of Chapter 10.
But no spoilers if you want to know you have to read!
My whole experience reading this book has been so amazing that I really can’t give it anything less than 5 stars! I loved it and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a sequel. Or bonus content that would be awesome too! 🙌🏽

Hybrid was a good reading for me, at last page i was like "Oh no, that's all?!" Hope to read the the next chapter about adventures of Agent Van, Annika and petite Cybill.
