Purchase options and add-ons

Network engineers are masters of technology transformation. From token ring to SD-WAN, we have carried the standard of change proudly. Now the cloud has arrived, and with it a different kind of technology shift. Instead of replacing the networks we own and operate, it adds a whole new world. Rather than moving on to new technologies, we have to continue to operate the networks we know and learn new ones at the same time. Soon, as more business-critical applications move to the cloud, we'll need to design and operate these new networks too.

The Hybrid Handbook for AWS will not make an immediate expert of anyone, but it will give a clear, concise launch point targeted at network engineers. It uses relevant networking terms and diagrams, taking what we know already to build on as it explores the cloud networking constructs, solutions, and options to connect two worlds together.

Network engineers will own the hybrid networks of the future. Are you ready?

What I like about this book is the writing style. Each section flows well and doesn't waste any time in getting to the point, and does so with humor in various places (+1). The author succeeds in drawing effective comparisons between traditional networking and cloud networking, which serves well to help make covered topics stick (at least for me). There is no fluff in this book, it delivers in a manner that breaks down topics and concepts in a helpful way.

I'm a network engineer in the midst of studying for the AWS Advanced Networking certification and was struggled to grasp some topics. I happened to see some folks in my LinkedIn network sharing this book and thought it would be a good supplement to my studies. This book did a great job breaking down cloud native speak into something a network engineer would understand. If you are a traditional network engineer trying to understand AWS networking this is a great resource so you can become more conversational and potentially help architect routing solutions in AWS.

Concise guide to AWS networking services and their deployment options. Translates the traditional reference concepts from networking (WAN and LAN) into AWS cloud services and wording, making examples, scenarios and leaving off what doesn’t make sense in cloud. Is a well written introductory guide to learn the basics and take some practice at the console. Looking for pattern matching your actual scenarios with the ones described is great help. The first discovery guide for a AWS newbie.

I am halfway through this book, but it has been a great read so far. Tim does a great job of simplifying topics. I am by no means a cloud expert, but the book has been providing a level of detail that allows me to have conversations that make sense. Essentially, that should be the goal of any good technical book.

Tim has done a great job here translating how AWS networking relates to traditional networking.
The book is short and sharp, with good examples. Its a great high level intro if you are dipping your toes into AWS coming from a networking background.
