We use the Stealth RO 100 for drinking water, juice mixes, coffee, tea and indoor potted plants.
We replace the sediment and carbon filters annually.
HydroLogic says the RO membrane will last 6-24 months. This is the most expensive part to replace.
They say to replace it when if falls below 90% in reduction of your ppm's.
I tested it today, more than 2 years on the original RO membrane.
My tap is 760 ppm today so I would need to replace the membrane if the RO water was higher than 76 ppm's. My meter showed 20 ppm's, so there is plenty of life left in it.
Great product, highly recommended.
bth I am going to order the Flush Kit - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0047LABHA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER - and see how that does.
That being said, I've spent a lot of time under my kitchen sink. I know way too much about tubing, fittings, filters, tanks, pumps, valves, TDS levels, PSI levels and faucets. I had conceded after the 4th failed water system and accepted that my water was somehow unfilterable. I accepted the reality that I would need to make monthly trips to the nearby supermarket and load up our SUV with 2.5 gallon containers of distilled Sparklett's water.
I got used to seeing the 2 inch hole cut in my granite kitchen counter where the Watts faucet used to be. Luckily, Amazon's recommended product lists included a Hydro-Logic RO system about 2 months ago. I initially dismissed the recommendation but later read a review by "Alex" who gave his TDS levels for unfiltered and filtered water. At a 95% filtration rate, he sparked my interest. I skeptically clicked Buy Now and hooked it up a couple of weeks later.
Here are the vitals:
TDS in: 392
TDS out: 5
5 PPM? Are you kidding me? My water tastes as good as the distilled water I buy at the market. This is by far the best $175 I have ever spent. I am so glad I tried one more filter. Hydro-Logic is a godsend.
NOTES: I also use the Aquatec 8800 Booster Pump, the iSpring UVF11 UV filter and a US SOLID 3/8" Electric Solenoid Valve. All three components are hooked up to a light switch next to the kitchen sink. This on/off capability prevents the pump and UV bulb from burning out.
Also, don't be surprised if you see some questionable items in your recommended product list after you purchase this. While this system produces excellent tasting water, The Hydro-Logic 31035 is intended for use in gardens you would find in the Emerald Triangle in northern California. Hydro-Logic also makes systems designed for commercial water filtration and aquarium enthusiasts but this system works perfectly for my needs
The only complaint I had was that the water source tube leaked at the pressure gauge. I contacted the manufacturer and they sent me a repair kit immediately and apologized for the inconvenience. Not many companies offer this kind of service these days!
This is a quality product and worth the money in my opinion.
