First, the needle didn't stay in one place; it settled at a particular reading, and then went down a percent or two, then up a percent or two or three, then back down. This was over the course of the 12 hours.
Second, the calibration slot on the back moved too easily, and sometimes moved on its own, after I'd calibrated it, simply because I picked up the unit.

Finally got it right. As you can see by the pictures I received the hygrometer and immediately put it in a Boveda calibration pack. I wanted to show how accurate the hygrometer is right out of the box. Each picture doesn’t tell you the time like I can see on my phone but I can say it is accurate within +/-1%. I got a great deal on a Valencia Humidor but the hygrometer needed replacement. After searching for one and getting advice from Dave @ Cheaphumidors.com I purchased this one. I was a bit worried it wouldn’t work but am extremely impressed by its accuracy right out of the box.
