Wonderful Arrangements, Wonderful Voice!!

This CD is one that never gets old. I have used some of the hymns from this CD as my ringback tone on my cell and continue to receive compliments. I've even had a few callers to ask me not to answer! My last purchase of this CD was made to share with one of the callers from my mom's doctor's office who had just lost her husband and was so touched by the hymn, "I Will Sing of My Redeemer". She called me back several days later to ask where she could buy a copy of the CD because she had been to several stores with no success. Consequently, I wanted to take care of giving it to her. Great purchase for yourself, or great for a gift!

I bought this CD soley for Mr. Ortega's outstanding arrangement of "Give Me Jesus". As a church choir member in a progressive Catholic Church that includes a variety of liturgical music, we use a more traditional arrangement of "Give Me Jesus". After hearing Mr. Ortega on a Billy Graham special, I wanted my choir director to hear this more contemplative version of the old spiritual. "Give Me Jesus" is not the only treasure on this CD, but some of the music may not be to the listener's taste. At times I thought I was listening to a country western or bluegrass album. Mr. Ortega delivers "Glory to the Lamb" with appropriate enthusiasm and his own composition, "I Will Praise Him, Still" is excellent. I would certainly purchase other CD's of Mr. Ortega's to experience the different 'styles' he delivers.

My husband and I purchased this CD years ago and played it frequently since. I chose it to give as a thank-you gift for the participants in my husband's recent memorial service, and comments so far have been very positive from men and women of differing ages: soothing, comforting, inspiring, uplifting. I love Fernando Ortega's music, greatly enjoyed watching an interview with him that I recently found on YouTube, and feel a special kinship since I also am a New Mexico native and spent many happy hours with my husband visiting places in Albuquerque and Chimayo spanning decades. The ONLY objection I have is with this cover!! Wish that would be changed. Off-putting to some (many?) shoppers not yet acquainted with his music and life story. Other than that small issue, I strongly advise you to GET THIS CD AND BE BLESSED over and over.

Fernando Ortega is one of the best artist around. Really like his music. It is trully of the Lord. Everything I have heard of his has been first class. I will be buying more of his music for sure. I had heard a song of his on KHCB 92.5 and knew it would be good. Fernando Ortega is blessed person to have a voice like his, I think the Lord is lifted up and praised with his music.
