I had pretty low expectations for the the HyperX Cloud Revolver S as I've gone through at minimum over 25 other Gaming Headsets and traditional Headphones over the last six months and I've been left very discouraged about ever finding a great "Gaming Headset" but I just have eaten my words as the Revolver S does put Dolby Headphone to good use and does indeed have the large Soundstage that gamers desire First Person Shooters and like myself a Racing and Driving Simulators which I'd say my ratio is 75% Driving Sim/20% FPS/5% Action/Adventure. They are very comfortable which at first feel really loose on the head but this is where they actually do very well once you get used to not having the clamping of the typical headsets out there. They are very light and only get slightly warm even after several hours of continuous use. The only thing I could say that is a drawback is they don't get very loud but they suffice perfectly fine in my opinion. I would call this headset a definite buy through my seemingly endless search for the ultimate headset and I've attached some pictures for your viewing pleasure. Thanks for reading and any questions please don't hesitate to ask and I'll try to respond as quickly as possible.
I saw some discussion on reddit about side tone in the Revolver S headset, which I thought didn't exist (due to official Kingston responses to questions on this product page), so I ordered the headset with high hopes. It turns out the Revolver S DOES have side tone; however, it appears to have been added after the fact (the manual doesn't even reference it) and the functionality is VERY limited. In order to turn it on, you need to press and hold the button on the left side of the USB dongle (primarily used for switching between mix pre-sets).
Unfortunately, there is no way to independently adjust any of the side tone settings. This means your mic sensitivity is permanently maxed (if you reduce your mic sensitivity on the dongle, the side tone remains the same until the mic is muted, when it also becomes muted), which meant I could hear myself breathing along with background noises. I tried to fix this issue via Windows input level settings, but they had no effect. Additionally, the volume of the side tone relative to other audio through the headset is fixed, so, for example, the side tone was always much louder than the game I was trying to play (you could potentially adjust some of this in windows settings I think, but it wasn't an obvious fix and, even if it were, it wouldn't help the sensitivity issue).
Outside of this issue, the Revolver S is a very, very comfortable headset with some additional flaws. Specifically, touching the metal frame or cords can be heard in the headset, as discussed in other reviews, which is an annoyance that shouldn't be present in a $150 headset. In the end, despite the comfort of the Revolver S, the side tone was just too sensitive and too loud for me, so I stuck with the Razer Kraken 7.1 V2s because they provided the best combination of comfort and side tone (and are $50 cheaper than the Revolver S).
If you don't care about side tone, I'd go with the HyperX Cloud IIs. If you need side tone, I'd recommend the Razer Kraken 7.1 V2.
I would advise purchasing a different headphone if you want long lasting ones. Although great, they will not last more than a year if your lucky.
