All in all, not a bad docking station. Took a couple weeks to get - came straight from China. Price was cheap. I keep it next to my bed and dock phone while I sleep. I'm going to get another model to have downstairs by my TV chair. I'll see if it slides on and off any easier...
This is actually manufactured by a company called Temei. Their item number is TEM-0290. It has a thin removable plate that allows me to plug in my phone while it has its silicone cover on it. With the plate in place, the phone plugs in by itself. Either way it fits snug. It also has a small blue light near the bottom left corner of the phone to indicate it is recieving power. But you sort have to be looking down on the charger, not straight on, to see it. I kind of like it that way; I can see it in the dark to find the dock, otherwise unnoticeable.
I bought four of these in 2014. During 2016, two of them failed. They just stopped communicating data with my computer. At first I thought I had a software/driver issue. However shortly thereafter, the actual charging function failed, tipping me off that the dock itself had failed.
Still, I liked this dock in all other aspects so I order two of the same as replacement. The failures are the cause of the one-star-ding.
Other things I should point out are that the dock is surprisingly stable considering the way it looks, as others have mentioned. It takes more than a few ounces of force to push the thing over (with the phone in it, of course). Also, it comes with a removable insert. With the insert in place, it's supposed to fit the naked phone, though I haven't really tried it. With the insert removed, a phone with a thin case, such as my Cimo frosted case fits just fine. Finally, I thought I should reiterate that it comes with a cable but no transformer.
While the dock ships with a micro USB cable, it does not include a power adapter (nor does it claim to, but keep that in mind when purchasing). I use it with the power adapter that came with the phone.
Overall a solid buy - I will likely get an additional one for my desk.
