Typical of Inna, the tracks on I Am the Club Rocker feature an abundance of excellent hooks and addictive chorus elements. This is particularly true on the first half of the disc, where songs like "Un Momento," "Club Rocker" and "Sun Is Up" all offer brain-tunneling jams that echo in your head and make you want to hit repeat, but it is also evident on the second half with little riff kickers like "No Limit." Along with her considerable ability to hook you as a listener/club goer, one of the things I really love about Inna's work is the "music of the people" style her music incorporates. Her beats seem to reach back into the musical past and prominently feature strong vocal accompaniment, call and response elements, hand-clapping and other time-honored folk elements. Her music isn't overly aggressive, cacophonous and loaded with screeching sound effects, but is instead comfortable and easy to slip into like an old pair of prized blue jeans. I know there is a proper place for dub-step and artists like electro wunderkind Skrillex, but, personally, when I go to a club that's just not the type of thing I want to hear. I've got classic punk rock and slam pits for those nights that I'm reveling in rib contusions and nose bleeds.
To sum up, I Am the Club Rocker isn't a disc that pushes the limits of musical originality; many of the tracks have a similar feel, the overall tempo is largely similar in many cases, and innovation isn't a strong point. But reinventing the wheel is not the intent behind this release. Inna wants to craft a solid dance album that will convert the uninitiated into bona fide club rockers, and she's gone a long way in doing so with this release. Inna is to club music what AC/DC is to rock - both artists offer the meat and potatoes in terms of what they do, and serve it up better than almost anyone else. Right now no one that I've heard is making better melodic Eurodance/house/club music than Inna, and, if you're itching to plug into some basic yet awesome groove and sway, you should really pick this up. Four and a quarter to four and a half stars.
Overall, Inna has been putting out the most quality dance and club music worldwide than any other artist right now. An easy, instant purchase for the dance music or Inna fan. Also, don't miss her single 10 Minutes, which is one of her best tracks and wasn't featured on some versions of Hot. The CD single of 10 Minutes features the song "I Need You For Christmas".
