I Am Wolf: The Children of Nox Paperback – March 16, 2012
The horror elements in I Am Wolf are absolutely on a par with the best Stephen King novels, such as The Stand, or Desperation, or Insomnia, some of my own favorites.~~Frederick Lee Brooke

Jonah is a boy who thought he was a troubled child, and that is the reason his parents sent him to live with his grandparents, but finds out his world has been thrown upside down. His Dreams, REAL? NOT REAL? You decide for yourself. Thank you Joann for a wonderful and exciting book!!
Meet Jonah, a teenage boy that is sent to his grandparents in Sisters Oregon to live without any explanation. Thinking his parents are separating, he reluctantly goes via bus to a town he hasn't been to since he was a child to live with grandparents he doesn't truly remember. It isn't long before he finds the true reason for his parents sending him to the one poo lace that is truly his home.
Jonah is a part of something much bigger than he ever could have imagined, and through a journey that is filled with love, trust, fear and darkness, he finds the warrior within.
This story is filled with emotion, both good and bad. It takes us through a group of teens lives as they find themselves, and each other, during what is supposed to be the best time of their lives. But it is filed with struggles, change, growth and a darkness that threatens to destroy them. An evil so vile it makes the very earth tremble, stalks Jonah and those he holds dear, and it is his job to stop it before it's to late.
I really enjoyed this story. There were times when it was slow and drawn out to me, but it never stopped me from finishing the story. I felt the pain Jonah and his friends felt, cried with him during the times of loss and smiled during the Times of joy.
It did take me longer than usual to finish this book, which could be because I don't normally read this genre. I did find it slow at some points, lacking in detail at others, and to drawn out at a few spots, but all of this didn't take away from the story. All in all, I enjoyed reading about Jonah and his pack and especially Cara, and hope to get a chance to read more about their future journeys.
Jonah has just been sent to live with his grandparents in Sister's Oregon. He was young when he lived there before but now he is in his late teens and returning back thinking he is being punished by his parents. Jonah starts hearing a voice inside his head and thinks he's going crazy. He stops at a café and discovers there are kids his own age that he knows and that remember him. It's a relief to him that this may not be a total waste. Then he meets Alaynee, his best friend's twin sister. It looks to be soul mates for life for those two. He comes to find out he is actually a wolf as well as his friends. This is an experience of a lifetime for him. A crazy man by the name of Ralph believes the town has been invaded by aliens and he must prove to the world that he found them there and should be rewarded for it. He believes the kids are speaking to each other telepathically. Ralph is a guy that had the worst childhood and seems nothing goes right for him. Ralph decides to kidnap Alaynee's little brother and by his scent, she picks up where he is as she has spent the evening with Jonah. They come to the place where Ralph is holding Alaynee's brother hostage and is holding a gun. Out of instinct, Jonah changes and bites Ralph. What a big mistake that no one had shared with him. The man is evil and will now change and do evil. His plans are to go back and get his daughter, Cara and eliminate his ex-wife, Jeanne. The council gets together to explain that all of this is not Jonah's fault as he didn't know the consequences of his actions, but most importantly, they must now find Ralph, hunt him down and kill him. Will they get there in time to save Cara & Jeanne? This book is hold on cause we are going for a ride. There is so much to love about it and don't want to give away the entire book. Joann went beyond the call with this book.
