The beautiful story of finding the music to your heart again.
Rhane Evans, the rocker chick, lead singer of an up and coming band is handed a devastating hand of cards when a car accident takes the two loves of her life. Her voice and Dalton. As she comes to terms with outcome of her actions that fatal night, she accepts the truth with beautiful restraint. If only that restraint carried over to her instant reactions to the present life she is dealing with.
As she travels a path of finding the Rhane she wants to be, enter the gorgeous and just as broken, Ian Callahan.
Ian's life has bean anything but glamorous. Being a single daddy to his 7 year old deaf daughter and his own secrets, he is also trying to find the right path to his happiness.
As both Rhane and Ian realize very early on, their paths are crossed with each other's. With the help of the loved ones in their lives. The learn to trust and accept. Letting the music of their hearts grow.
Beautiful love story of two colorful pasts to create a harmony.
I sort of kind of liked the characters. For instance, Rhane is wishy-washy and she just annoyed the bejesus out me. Uncle T was too much of an enabler. He is a great uncle, just wasn't uncley/tough lovey enough. And then you have Gwen. She is sort of like the mom figure to Rhane but she ended up being the nanny, cook, and house cleaner. Yes all mommish stuff, but she wasn't meant to fill in as mom. She was made to be the caretaker of the house/watchdog. But I liked her a ton. In fact I felt that her character was the best one in the story. And then there's Ian. I thought I was going to fall in love with Ian. He had the makings of Mr. Perfect written all over him, but then he slowly jumped ship with the rest of them and the story sort of went down the tube.
Ian and Rhane's chemistry was there. Hot, fun, flirty, and sexy. But there just wasn't enough dialogue between them for me to be happy. It's a slow played romance, that infuriated me more than anything. And again there isn't depth to their relationship. There could be so much to them. Tons. Their story just needed more work. Especially when there's an added person in the mix. It just could have brought more to story the and their story.
Overall this is a so so story. It was just lacking in certain aspects for me and I was underwhelmed. Now don't get out the pitch forks and come trudging after me because I didn't enjoy it as much as you, but understand that when I read a story I am looking for originality (which this story had), depth, superb characters, and realistic characters. Plus some other things. I look forward to reading the sequel to this story----As we get Ians POV....I LOVE Male POVs the most! They always carry more fun and insight into the lives of the characters. This is a 3.5 Star book for me :)
