Editorial Reviews

Review

I. A. CRISPR is the first book in the Does Artificial Intelligence dream of Genetic Engineering? series. It s science fiction/ thriller story by author L. A. Spangler. In it, a researcher has figured out how to get an AI to program cells from the human body. The story takes place in present day or near future. The main characters work as part of the research team for Jacek. I enjoyed Melanie as a character as she s a fighter and has many blunt observations. The Russian twins make witty remarks in a Russian kinda way. Jacek spends a good portion of the book trying to save his sister. The research takes several turns throughout the book. The book does drag a little bit in the middle. But, the start and end of the book more than make up for that. It s a great hard sci fi mixed with some thriller elements. The twists and turns Spangler puts in the story are great, and the situations are believable. The book has a good ending that rolls right into the next book. If you ve read some of the positive reviews for the book, believe it. This is a good one. Looking forward to continuing the series! 5 out of 5 for sure. --Amazon Reviewer

I picked this up on a friend's recommendation and I'm hooked. As a sci-fi reader and aspiring data scientist, this look at the bleeding edge of present tech has been fascinating and pretty accurate to what I know of the field. The characters are all interesting and unique and so far (about half through) the plot's sucked me in - I thought I was just going to read the first few pages but now it's getting late. I'm looking forward to reading the rest tomorrow and seeing more work from a new author! --Amazon Reviewer

About the Author

L. A. Spangler invented time travel, the pet rock, and force fields. His first encounter with extra-terrestrial life resulted in an exchange of goods. He received instructions on faster than light travel, and he handed over a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. (No judging). Peaceful relations between the two species exist to this day. He has written a thousand books on the subject of quantum computing in the teleportation age. L. A. loves telling stories. Some of them made up like his fiction books.
