''Gilbert's dazzling guitar work is at the center of a group of songs that vary stylistically from the Iron Maiden/Judas Priest vibe of the title track, to the Thin Lizzy/Boston-like 'Knocking on a Locked Door' and 'One Woman Too Many,' to the Steely Dan-flavored strains of 'I Will Be Remembered.' The recording industry is pushing us all in the direction of buying singles, and even worse, rather than the labels would prefer us to stream material rather than own a hard copy. This brings me to my next point, the recording quality of "I can Destroy". This is about as good as it gets for a CD! The guitarists are wizards without a doubt, the percussion will blow your head off! I wish there were more choices for new recordings such as high resolution audio Blu-rays. Buying old recordings in that form are a rip off, unless there's video of the performances. It's not possible to make old analog recordings high res, all you get is the same material repackaged or the BS marketing term "remastered" to remove stuff from your wallet. at a higher cost. If you can't tell, I'm not really happy with the recording industry as a whole these days.
The producer, Kevin Shirley, did a stellar job too, the disc isn't digitally fluffed with overdubs nor did they sacrifice dynamic range in favor of the "louder sells better" moronic mentality. There's NOTHING negative I can say about this CD! If you're a guitar freak who likes hard rock, this DEMANDS a listen! I'd love to see more artists demand & get this level of quality from the labels and a REAL High Resolution Audio Format with rules about provenance with regard to what, when, & how the recording was created!
This record takes back the FUN! You can tell the band is having a great time performing and Paul is on fire on this album. It sounds amazing, and I really enjoy it.
If you're a fan of Paul's work, you'll love this record. It has the "Mr. Big" vibe, cool shreddding solos and creative voice melodies. Everything you can ask for.
Good job Pablo!
