The Harlequin feel dies down as the story deepens and we are shown Ava and Mateo’s pasts and what has led up to present day. Sometimes back flashes can be confusing but this author was clear with each transition and I never felt lost with the timeline. I was so anxious to find out what had transpired to bring this couple who apparently had it all to the crossroad where they now stood.
I was totally into this story and when finished immediately started checking to see if I had other books by this author. I mean come on, if Mateo is just one of her alphas, I can’t imagine what all the others will be like.
Dual POV but mostly heroine
Safety Gang safe
While this book is very different from Ella's other series, it is very mush like a wonderful Spanish version of the Hart series. Sure, it is very different but the odd twists and turns in just this first book very much felt like the Hart series.
Is this a bad thing? No! I loved that series and have actually re-read the 1st and 2nd books many times.
Did I love the book, sure. It was sweet and twist but not dark or scary.
I did feel that the main character of Avaline was very YOUNG, even with all that she went thru I just felt the "present" chapters would have been better without the tantrums but ,Amber a mature coldness toward Mateo.
Mateo was not playing around and had always loved her, and while he waited for her to "come back" he stayed loyal and ,attire. I loved that.
The book was very good and I look forward to more from the series.
Get ready for all the alpha, Latin hotness that is the Cruz brothers ( I think I may want to brush up on my Spanish )
Background: Two childhood friends Joaquin & Antonio build a very successful business in Spain , Antonio has 5 sons this book is about the oldest Mateo. The other friend has a daughter Eva and she is Mateo love interest . After the connection was made for these two there was no turning back, these two had heat and passion for days. Mateo love for Eva had no bounds and isn't that what we want for our romance books.
There is just a dash of drama but Mateo will take care of it, looking forward to meeting all of the Cruz brothers.
Only objection: the author over use of the word exponentially !
Will Mateo convince Ava to say I do instead of I don't? Read and find out you will love it. Wonderfully hot and steamy love story!
Avelina has left Mateo but he is determined to make her see they belong together. There are several flashbacks that lead up to the reason Avelina ran away.
Few twists but I would have loved a little angst.
I loved the closeness of the two families. Looking forward to all the brother's stories!
