Editorial Reviews
From School Library Journal
PreSchool-For toddlers with an insatiable appetite for trucks, this is a perfect choice. Vehicles that crawl, roll, dig, dump, mix concrete, gobble trash, and do a multitude of other things are depicted in simple rhyming language and big, bold illustrations outlined in black. On the front and end pages are facts about different kinds of trucks that will fascinate slightly older children. A book that's similar in style to Byron Barton's Trucks (Crowell, 1986) and sure to be popular.

My son loves this book. So cute and the words are simple and easy for him to memorize and read to himself. My one complaint is in the original version it has little facts on each vehicle on the inside front and back covers that this book does not have.

This is a great little book for any kid who loves trucks like my 14 month old son does. It shows several different types of trucks, tow trucks, bulldozers, concrete mixers, etc. lIt doesn't give the proper name to most of them so if that's what you're looking for, look else where. It's more a description of what each type of truck does. My kid enjoys it non the less and asks to read it several times a day. The reason it's four stars is there's one page that you have to flip the book to read upright and while I don't mind this, my toddler doesn't seem to like it. But my biggest gripe is that the last truck described, which is the kid in the book's favorite truck, is an ice cream truck. I just wish these authors of kids books wouldn't put such a positive emphasis on junk food. Not such a big deal that I'll stop reading it to him...just more of an annoyance.

Best board book ever. Found our first copy at a little free library four years ago; it fell apart through rough use and the emergence of teeth, and so we quickly had to replace it. It has a second life (or, at least, a few of the more presentable pages) as artwork for the kids' walls.
Our second child was a little more gentle but loved the book no less. She was especially enamored of the "trucks that sweep the street." We would sit together and read that page for a good five minutes at a time.
The bold colors and illustrations aren't fine art, but captivate a child's attention and imagination. These are simple drawings of trucks they see every day in the city, and the very fact that the rhyming text describes what they do rather than what they are called allows leeway for engagement with the child on the third, fourth, or fiftieth read-through. A very, very quick read but one that has been beloved by all three of my children.

My boys loved this book. It’s catchy and fun, the whole book rhymes and I have it memorized from reading it so many times. A big favorite in my house. I get this book for gifts all the time.

This was our son's favorite book for his first 2 years. The board book is durable and holds up to a tough baby boy. At first he loved the bright, bold colors. But the poetry, rhyme, and diverse trucks have kept it as a favorite read.

My 3-year-old grandson loves the book, I Love Trucks. He regularly asks to one of us to read this book to him. Actually, this is his second book. The first book was "dog-earred" and badly damaged with spilt milk. The book has bright colors, good illustrations and not too many words to keep a 3 year old focused on each page. It is also not bad for adults to read over and over again.

少し外国風だけれど、はたらく車の基本的テイストはおなじ
Reviewed in Japan on August 15, 2006Verified Purchase
