Billionaire Daniel Thorne whose lawyer neglected to complete filing his paper works to become a natural US resident is now in danger of losing his visa. His only way of staying is if he marries a US citizen, so he set his eyes on one of his employees, the beautiful Maddy Wainwright and ask her to marry him. He bribed her to pay all her debts, move in with him, and enjoy all the perks of being his wife and at the end of their one year contract, he'll pay her a cool 2 million dollars and she walks away, no strings attached. The only condition, while they are living together she has to do everything to make it real and believable including sleeping together in the same room in the same bed. Maddy is in deep financial trouble and since the offer sounds so simple and enticing, she agreed...the trouble is, she fell in love ( and in lust! ) with the hot and sexy Daniel Thorne (who wouldn't be, whew! )
This is a sweet short fast read, quirky with a little twist and drama and a lot of sexual tension...and of course, a happy and sweet ending!

SPOILER......I really tried to like this book. But I felt like it was all over the place. First they are strangers, then she is the "timid" girlfriend, then she wants a physical relationship, then back to nothing. Throughout their relationship she spends all of her time in the house working one art. Not once do they need to go out in public together after they are married. Then one day they are under investigation from INS and then a short time later all is good. Then at the end the declare their love and live happy ever after????

I was wondering if I would like it but it turns out that it's a great read. Not that it's too short but when I finished I wished there was more! The way things built up was real satisfying and I found myself right there with the characters. Also goes great with red wine.

This book is sexy & romantic & has an interesting story. I especially like the interactions between the billionaire and his new wife, in their marriage of convenience. Very nicely done! I saw this book featured on a review website and now will be looking for more romances from this author.

Cute premise that goes nowhere. She needs money, he needs citizenship. Cute, right? Ugh. One naughty dream and she acts like an idiot for the next 100 "pages." There is nothing about his character that would lead one to believe that he could possibly be a billionaire. In fact, he's such a colossally bad judge of character that not one but two employees cause him problems. Way to manage the heck out of that, buddy. He acts like a wounded puppy and then we're supposed to be believe he's authoritative in bed? No chemistry, no zing. Such a waste of time. She is a ninny undeserving of further review.

This romance was like a coloring book page before it is colored in--the outline of the picture is charming but it is missing all the hues and vibrancy that really makes it come alive.

This writer is very promising and I hope to read books by her in the future that are not missing the detail and the follow through of a full piece. I was disappointed when I reached the end of the story that so little was resolved in terms of conflicts in the story. We do get the start of a nice HEA but then I discovered that there are several books to go in the series on this couple.

I did not find them a compelling enough couple because of the missing pieces nor the nature of this contemporary romance to need several books to follow them. While this isn't quite a serial as there is no cliffhanger, I still wish it had been a complete novel--all in one.

The missing parts--Why doesn't Maddie have any friends outside the disappeared Lisa? What is the backstory exactly of his previous deal? ... There are tons of these threads.

Sigh.

Melanie Marchande is a new-to-me author. I was on my Kindle Fire and looking at "recommended for you" books and noticed this and grabbed it. The blurb really caught my attention. I love the marriage of convenience trope. In I Married A Billionaire, Maddy Wainright, a graphic designer at the company she works at has given up on men and relationships. She doesn't believe in love at all. This makes her the perfect fit for Daniel Thorne. He's in jeopardy of being deported and needs to get married quickly. Her aversion to relationships and disbelief in love is a perfect fit for his plan.

Maddie can't believe Mr. Thorne is serious, even if he is the answer to all her debt-ridden prayers. She takes a few days to consider his proposal, and after a mishap with her car, she's all in. That's where the fun starts.

These two have some pretty steamy chemistry and they both try to ignore it at first. They want to keep the arrangement all business. The kisses and caresses in public put a chink in their armor though. Then the honeymoon from heaven blows them all to smithereens. Or it does for Maddie anyway. Daniel on the other hand acts as though she doesn't exist.

Once this couple figures out they both want the same thing and feel the same way, by way of a meddling sister, they start a beautiful relationship. One issue I had with this book is Maddie's relationship to her parents, it wasn't really explained why she didn't have one. I mean what parents don't have time to come to their only daughter's wedding?

I will definitely be reading more from this author. I really like her style of writing, how the words just flow together. I Married A Billionaire was a very well written and edited book, a rare find in today's market, especially for new authors.
