Not sure how it gets good reviews on here. Plenty on Newegg having the same problem I am having. It will not stay connected over usb 3.0 without dropping. Sometimes I can get 30 minutes without an issue but without fail it will drop every time I am copying large amounts of data. I have no issues over USB 2.0 but that does me no good. I love the looks of the drive and the built in cable. I ignored the reviews I had read about the USB 3.0 connectivity problems but sure enough it has issues.

Never heard of this brand... thought I'd try it though for a cheap usb 3.0 external dock. It works great! I didn't realize it came with a usb 3.0 cable, so I bought an extra one. So... you don't need to buy a cable, it comes with it. I can transfer files at 120Mb/s Megabyte.. not megabit, over usb 3.0 with this device, a 1.5Gb Seagate drive, and a Sabertooth x58 motherboard.

I just wish they would hurry up and provide power over usb 3.0 like the spec is supposed to. (It requires a plug)

I noticed a few bad reviews about this cable not working with 3.0 USB ports, but I didn't listen and I purchased this anyways. The cable would constantly disconnect my SSD when I was trying to do a transfer and only worked when I plugged it into a USB 2.0 port. Even then the transfer rate was only 12mb/s when a USB 2.0 port easily allows for over 30mb/s transfer rate. Considering how fast my laptop is with other USB devices and that I was transferring to a new flash-based SSD, the cable was clearly the limiting factor in the transfer rate. It was a cheap purchase, but thankfully Amazon gave me a full refund. Just avoid this one all together and purchase a better SATA III to USB 3.0 cable if you plan on externally transferring saves to an internal hard drive.

Quality materials and good looks. i use it with an Intel SDD. Easy install. Attached cable is exactly what i wanted as most enclosures use a weakly mounted USB connector that will break off the board eventually, or not stay plugged in. A+ product. Fast shipment.

Recently installed Windows 7 via Bootcamp to my Macbook Air which only had 128gb to begin with. I partitioned 50gb for Bootcamp, and when it was all said and done, I had 47gb to use. Once windows 7 and some programs were installed, I had about 25gb left. LOL. I had a 300gb 2.5" HD laying around pulled from a PS3. I wanted a case that was USB 3.0 and also be able to match my Macbook. So I was a little disappointed in the color of the case. The description says Milky White, the pictures even looks white. But more accurately, the description should say, CLEAR FROSTED PLASTIC CASE. That's what they mean folks, when they say MILKY WHITE. My hard drive can be seen through the case clearly. Not enough frosting. For all all intents and purposes, it's basically a clear case.

Having said that, I love the function of this. Think of those plastic VHS tapes in the 80's. That's what it basically is. You put the hard drive inside along with the usb 3.0 module/sata connector. Then you shut the case. It snaps in place, no screws. Underneath the case is an opening for the usb cable. Extremely versatile if you have multiple bare 2.5" drives laying around the house like I do. It does the job. USB powered too, no need for power adapters or cables. As for longevity, who knows.

Previous review says you can probably connect a 3.5 hard drive since you don't really have to use the case. I was very doubtful because it takes a lot of power for those 3.5 drives and there were no power adapters or cables supplied. But for the curious cats, I tested it out, and the answer is NO. You cannot use 3.5 drives. It did not recognize the hard drive. I double checked by connecting the 3.

I use both Windows and Mac computers in my everyday work and play. Having recently started using a Macbook Pro Retina, I've been looking for a USB powered external drive enclosure for 2 extra 1 TB 2.5" drives that I use with video projects while traveling. I format external drives with exFAT to work cleanly with both Windows and Mac computers.

I tried another brand and although it worked well with smaller drives and with Windows, it still would not work reliably with my new Macbook in USB 3.0 mode (even though the enclosure is produced and sold by a "Mac" company).

This iNEO module and enclosure rocks! It is recognized in <5 seconds by both Mac and PC. The USB 3.0 speed using BlackMagic on my Macbook is 110MB/s read and write for both 1TB Samsung and WD drives. And it's dirt cheap as external modules go. (For comparison, the internal Mac flash drive hits 400-450MB/s and a USB 2.0 drive hits 25-35MB/s on my systems.)

The "Protection Case" version is light-weight (5.5 oz with drive) and easy to change between different hard drives.

If you need a USB 3.0, USB-powered enclosure that handles 1TB drives and works well with PC and/or Mac, give this a try. As some others have commented, it ain't pretty. But I think you'll like it.

This is my first USB 3.0 device. I don't have a USB 3.0 computer yet, but I'm sure I will in the future.

I am using this to replace an older USB 2.0 Vantec unit that didn't work with drives >1TB and advanced format drives.

So far, the unit seems to work well. No problems hooking it up to my Windows 7 x64 system using USB 2.0. It instantly recognized a Samsung 1.5TB drive I docked in it so the USB 2.0 backward compatibility works great.

I was also happy to see that it comes with a USB 3.0 cable (colored blue), which I didn't have (but have plenty of USB 2.0 cables). The USB 3.0 cable will plug into a USB 2.0 port on your computer but the other end will only fit a USB 3.0 device.

I look forward to upgrading to USB 3.0 in the future!

I will update this review should I run into any problems.
