From reading other reviews I've been WARNED about this Brantley character therefore I'm going to read about him with an open mind. Brantley was served a reality check when Kit left for one year to follow her dream leaving him responsible for their eighteen month old daughter. Brantley gets a weekend crash course on how to be a dad to his daughter. Brantley never wanted his daughter and instead sent child support checks. When Kit decided to follow her dreams she gave Brantley no choice but to be responsible for Bay for one year. The entire year was played out in detail outlining each livable moment creating a realness.
I already like the concept of turning a selfish boy into an unselfish man. It's a story about choices, dreams, mistakes, and carving paths.
Story's told from Brantley's POV. Brantley graduated from college with a teaching degree. He took a year off after graduating to pursue his singing. The story was slow and steady.
I think the readers are having issues with Brantley's attitude. Brantley is the guy that they don't expect to settle down. Brantley did not have a father figure therefore the hesitation and doubt to be a father is understandable. Brantley has a one track mind: sex. Brantley is a very sexual character and enjoys sex.
Jettie does an excellent job at depicting Brantley's male character and his aloofness and attitude as a guy in this situation. Jettie nailed the male character of Brantley perfectly by describing his sexual charm towards women and his uncertainty towards fatherhood. Jettie created a beautiful character in Kit with her motherly instincts, drive, determination, and passion.
"I was the king of smooth talk and I was an expert at manipulating my way between a sexy pair of legs." This explains Brantley.

Meet Brantley Jandt, aspiring country music singer waiting for his big break, turned second grade catholic school teacher. He is your typical love em and leave em type. No strings no attachments. His really for a relationship just as long as it's just the overnight variety.
Along comes one sexy school teacher and an ex one night stand, with a baby in tow just to complicate his life. It's time for Brantley to finally grow up and start making a few adult decisions.
A spin off from the twin series, this stand alone book has a few familiar characters, shown in the background. Adding in the new characters and pupils from St Augustine. I enjoyed getting into Brantley's head and watching him grow up from a reckless hot headed busker chasing a dream into a responsible grown up following his heart. I loved the way Jettie brought Brantley together with the woman he was made for, they were perfect for each other. They didn't have a traditional love story, but their connection was ever present in the way their story was written.

Emotional. It's a great way to describe this book, because let me tell you, it brought out a whole bunch of feels.

Brantley Jandt. A self-centered, egotistical, would-be country music singer busking on the streets of Nashville, waiting to be discovered. All he wants is to play music, sing and be the next big thing. What he doesn't expect is to have to grow up and learn some responsibility. He is a complex character who you will love to hate, then just plain love. He's charming, cocky, and has the kind of swagger that either turns you on or makes you roll your eyes. But underneath all that, he's a good guy who grows and matures, and endears himself to you.

Bay is absolutely adorable and she will have you wrapped around her finger from the first time she appears in the book. She's precocious and funny, and it's fun to see her experience everything.

This story is beautiful. It deals with everyday life, self discovery, heartache, mistakes, forgiveness and ultimately love. There are moments you will want to curse and throw your e-reader, and moments that will have you grabbing on to someone you love and hugging them tight. Its a good reminder that things don't always turn out the way you want them to, but the way they're supposed to. This might just be my favorite Jettie book yet.

I Love LOVE Love I Pick You by Jettie Woodruff. By the time I started chapter 14 I'd already laughed out loud, cried and had all the feels. The book just kept getting better and better. It's a story about growing up, finding redemption and learning that sometimes finding a new dream and a new purpose is even better than what you thought you always wanted. Maybe Brantley, Rydell and Kit wouldn't have chosen some of the things that happened but the journey brought each of them to the life they were meant to live and realizing even if they wouldn't have chosen the hard stuff they'd never change it because the life they all ended up having was so much better than they ever imagined. i can't end this review without saying Bay is probably the best character in the story. You can't not love her. Enjoy!

Brantley was happy singing country music in bars, and on street corners, picking up a girl when he felt like it. He wasn't ready to be a father, but that changes fast, when Kit, a one night stand from the past, wants him to take care of his daughter while she goes to Kenya to help the less fortunate. Brantley immediately falls in love with his adorable daughter, Bay. Brantley becomes a second grade Catholic school teacher, and meets Rydell, another teacher. As Brantley gets to know Rydell, Kit is still in his life, skyping with him and Bay every night. Brantley finds himself in love with two women. Who will he choose? Will Brantley manage taking care of Bay by himself, or will he make mistakes and convince himself that he's not meant to be a parent?
I also fell in love with Bay, and you will too. She is just too adorable to resist! Will you be Team Kit, or Team Rydell? Me, I was just Team Bay :)
