The color is a beautiful blue/aqua, which causes colors of the flowers, birds, and animals to pop enough that you feel it truly is a garden. Although promoted to little girls, I know a nature loving boy would like this, too.
The translation is the International Children's Bible and the font is somewhat small but larger than many kid's Bibles. There is a Presentation Page and there are extra pages within that have the pretty colors shown on the front. These include such things as a Bible Timeline, The Names of God, The Miracles of Jesus, a list of The Disciples, a Where Kids Are Found in the Bible section, and more.
This Bible would make an excellent gift for any little girl to inspire them to read (or be read) God's Word. I smiled as soon as I opened the box from the publisher and saw the cover!
The ICB Blessed Garden Bible was provided by the publisher for the sake of review but the opinions are my own.
The reason I'm giving this Bible 4 stars is because all through it random passages appear to be highlighted in gray. I haven't found any logic or explanation for this. Maybe it was a problem with the printing, or maybe I'm just missing something???
I liked how the inside had quite a few full color/designed pages and that contained everything from a presentation page, help pages, maps, timelines and more. I love putting this extra information into kids hands because it opens up learning to a new level. And when you, as a parent get involved too, that just makes it even better!
I liked that this Bible has a page for family history, making it a piece that could be passed down from generation to generation. It also has some other great helpful pages like: Why should I read the Bible, How do I know Jesus loves me, good verses to commit to memory, space to write your own favorite verses, How to pray, How to study the Bible, How to Forgive and more! These are all such important subjects that you and your young one can tackle together with helpful wise guidance and scripture references.
It also has helpful Key Verse Highlights (such as: love, patience, temptation wisdom, etc) with specific Bible verses listed below that reference that subject. I used this tool a lot when I was younger and I think it helps little ones learn how to cross-reference and really “study” the words and how they’re repeated in the Bible.
I skimmed the ICB translation and found it to be well done. My daughter is not ready to read it herself, but she loved the look and feel of this Bible. It has cute swirling, floral details with bits of foil, glitter and winsome woodland garden illustrations.
Overall, I thought this was a cute, well put together Bible. It has a lot of helpful features for a new reader and the special pages are specifically written to help guide into the importance of prayer, reading and studying the Bible and more. All of those extra features are really what sells this Bible for me. Lots of Bibles are good, but this one contains a lot of extras that I don’t normally see. Plus it’s really cute and right on trend with the organic garden feel.
The front cover is made to look like an old fashioned fairy tale book, with a faux lock and lots of scroll symbols. It features an adorable fox, as well as snails, birds, butterflies, hedgehogs, bunnies, raccoons, owls and many other woodland creatures.
There are 24 full color pages with adorable animals and flowers throughout the Bible! These pages show a Bible time line, important verses to remember, places to write down your favorite verses, and answers to common questions children might have. Questions such as "How do I pray?", "How do I forgive?", and "How do I study the Bible?".
The end of the Bible has an index for miracles performed in the Bible, the names of the disciples, and kids from the Bible. There are also 4 pages of Biblical maps located in the last few pages of the Bible.
All in all, I thought this was an adorable Bible! I don't typically buy ICB versions of Bibles but it would be an excellent beginner Bible for a child who has just learned to read. This version makes the Bible very easy to understand for young children. The illustrations were absolutely adorable! They were bright and colorful, with a sort of whimsical design. The front cover itself is bright colored and even has glitter on some of the pictures.
I rate this Bible as 5 stars! I received this Bible for free from Booklook Bloggers in exchange for my honest unbiased opinion.
