Accepts 2 x 2.5" HDD/SSD
The EZ-Fit Lite is our newest 2.5” HDD/SSD bracket and we’ve pulled out all the stops to engineer this unit to be both user-friendly and highly advanced. The EZ-Fit Lite accepts up to 2 x 2.5” SATA, or IDE SSD/HDD drive from 7mm to 9.5mm in drive height.
New flex design system to simplify your drive installation process – all you need to do is insert the drive, and push inwards until it “clicks”. To eject the drive, gently squeeze the drive eject button to remove the drive. The best part about this device is it’s completely tool-less drive installation –just insert the drive and you’re set. It doesn’t get any easier.
Extra Mounting Holes
There are screw holes located both on top of the unit and on bottom to give you extra compatibility. Furthermore, the plethora of screw holes provides a backup measure in case of installation failure.
Unbelievably Durable & Lightweight
Our EZ-Fit Lite MB290SP-B is constructed with highly robust ABS plastic and fuses desirable traits such as durability and lightweight. One piece construction means there are less moving parts to be concerned with, which in turn means it’s less likely break.

Note: Because of the height limitations in a standard bay, the SSDs in this twin drive holder have to be very close to each other, separated on my a couple of mm. This matters in deciding how to connect the power and SATA cables. You may need to install one SSD upside down if you have right angle SATA cable plugs, or get straight cable plugs. For the power connectors I had to use two separate cables from the power supply (one routed to an SSD from the top and the other from the bottom). There is enough surface contact area in a slot, that you can leave one of the SSDs unclipped so that it extends out a few mm for easier cable connection access.
Only problem I experienced was fitting power cables onto SSDs on both the top and bottom slots of these. Since the SATA connections are right next to each other, the power cables I had on the middle of the branch of cables from my PSU were tough to fit right, since they have cabling extending downwards and upwards. The connector on the end of a branch of power cables fits fine since it's long and fast, though. I was worried I would bend and break the SATA connections on my SSD if I forced the power cables in. Not really a flaw with the design, just something to be aware of. I didn't think of it before ordering.
I swapped all my angled SATA data cables for flat ones, so that was no problem.
The device has two levels, so that dual SSD can be mounted. The SSD slides in and fits snugly, and is held in place by a couple of plastic tabs.. Then the entire assembly went into the computer exactly right. I have no complaints at all about this model. They include four small screws to secure the holder into the bay, but those were not needed, because Dell has sliding removable mounts.
The only thing to note is that the drives may sit further away from the end of the mount than a normal 3.5 drive, so you might need to be creative with running the power and data cables to the SSD. Not really that big a deal.
Summary: If you are looking for a good SSD mounting solution at a great price, look no further. Highly recommended.
Specifically, I'd like to be able to mount 6x 2.5" SSD's in a small SuperMicro Case that can normally mount 2 or 4 (with 2 supermicro cages) 2.5" HDD/SSDs. The case can alternatively hold 2x3.5" hdds, and this works well for that, but we loose the ability to use the expansion slot completely.
Also, I suspect that a metal cage would be better for heat dissipation from the installed drives. A simple bent metal, 3x7mm drive cage would be wonderful, even if that meant losing hot swap capability. a 1mm (20 Ga) thick sheet metal, properly cut drilled and bent would work great! Wish I had the metal shop and skills to build it myself!
In all fairness, it's pretty much a "set it and forget it" system since you'll likely not change your hard drives often. And once the bracket is installed, the weight issue is fairly moot unless you carry around your computer to LAN parties a lot.
