Replaced HD in Gateway 7330GZ laptop. This device fit in the drive compartment, which is the same size as a 2.5" drive. This is the only adapter that I found that I felt would fit. The adapter is difficult to insert correctly because of the depth and tight space. My computer's connector did not have a key so it was easy to insert incorrectly.
Inserted a Kingston 1.8" Drive with XP installed on it. The system booted up with no problem. Bench32 drive speed test was 25% faster and boot time was somewhat shorter. I was disappointed that the read/write speeds were not better (32mb/s). I believe the Gateway's ATA-66 controller is the limiting factor.

MicroSata adapter

Works well but doesn't support Trim for SSD. Trim must be disabled otherwise computer hangs for long periods.
The chip is well known to have this issue so this should have been mentioned in product description.
All in all it is nice to be able to put an SSD in an old laptop, it gives quite a performance boost!

no more IDE HDD

As you know IDE HDD becomes hard to get and still I could buy micro SATA SSD (64GB) instead and showed much better performance than the IDE (7200 rpm)

Platform : PowerBook G4 17 inch 1.5Ghz

Read / Write : 50-70MB /sec

my Powerbook G4 can be used for web surfing at least ( not good for youtube, dailymotion for Hi resolution video )

Product is exactly what it says it is... I didn't pay close enough attention so it wouldn't work with my 2.5" SATA drive, but I just didn't pay close enough attention to the description. Did try it out on a 1.8" and it worked great. Old ATA interface is slow by today's standards, but I was able to use a current tech drive in an older laptop. The mount was a engineering challenge, but I figured that going into this project.

Bummed! Got my laptop all ready to upgrade and this doesn't fit with the Samsun 840EVO mSata SSD I bought. The IDE end fits nicely in the laptop bay, but no way to connect the mSata portion. Guessing mSata stand for Micro Sata after all? Since I have to rate it, it looks nice but just the wrong thing. So I'll keep it at 5 stars to give benefit of doubt.

Got a SS micro drive, set in adapter and it fits inside the 2.5" laptop bay , and looks like it should fit most systems, as it is a little smaller then a full size drive.

using a usb adapter for 2.5" IDE, system quickly recognized drive.
I haven't had a chance to clone the drive in the laptop yet, but I doubt there will be any recognition problems at boot up
