Edit: After using this for several months the mic has been okay but there is some feedback that comes through the mic while recording.
I recommend this Lav mic for anyone starting on YouTube, It plugs right in to your phone, it provides great quality for an affordable price. You can hide it under your shirt by simply clipping it and the cord length is long enough to not be dead pan in front of your phone.
All in all a great buy.
Meanwhile, it doesn't work with my PCs either. I bought an adapter for this mic (TSSR) to work with TSR devices--nope--doesn't work either.
So this set is an expensive iPhone mic.
The only con that I could knock it with is the fact that it didn't come with a pc adapter like all other inexpensive brands. Even the Youmic that I got my son had an extra noise reducing foam (whatever you call them) and a velcro that you can use to wrap the cord neatly before putting in a good quality pleather like bag.
Aside from the hard zipper case that the irig came with, you could have thrown in a little extra here and there to really get that extra star.
Am I being picky? Yes, that is because when it comes down to it, the inexpensive mics out there does a great job, if not possibly better. Paying premium price should make it really worth while.
Also, the product offers some app downloads that supposedly simulate different mic styles and effects. I can't figure out how to use most of them. They might be great if they worked or if they gave some instructions to enlighten me. For example, with the app "Mic Room," I can choose from different dynamic and condenser mic styles and adjust the volume. There was an "In" button that lets me hear what they might sound like (through headphones), but I didn't see a "record" button on any of them or a way to save my sound tests. So I have no idea why this app exists. Are we supposed to run it in tandem with a second app that *does* record audio? (Is that possible?) No instructions, either...so the lavaliers ware in a drawer and the apps sit abandoned. I'm back to using the built in iPhone recording app and no external microphone. Can anyone recommend another product?
It does work great and I am very pleased with the sensitivity and quality of the mic.
One could argue that the cord could be longer to accommodate more movement and distance from the phone, tablet or other recording device when using the mic, but I personally have had no issues with the length.
I do also like the case that came with the microphone. It just helps keep things tidy when not in use and for traveling.
Sound quality is good. It doesn't seem to pick up too much outside noise.
I'm very pleased with this purchase and want to get another one, hopefully from Amazon Warehouse, a bit cheaper.
