Looking at the picture, on the left is the ILEBYGO MX3 remote and on the right is my older MX3 by YOUKONG. I actually thought these would behave the same but the ILEBYGO had the backlight that I wanted. Most of these remotes are in the $13.99 price range. I also have a Minix remote that cost about $34. The air mouse function of the Minix is smoother than the 2 in this review, but outside of that it doesn't have many functions that work with the Shield. On both MX3 versions the air mouse can work pretty well if you choose the right Nvidia USB port for the receiver. It's also worth noting that on both MX3 remotes the D-ring (arrow controls around the OK button) is a bit narrow and not raised enough to make it as easy to use as it could be. I wish it was higher or wider so it would be easier to hit with my thumb without also hitting the OK button. However, I found it easy to pop open the case on each MX3 and shim the D-ring up about 1mm with a couple bits of greeting card cardboard and now the feel is perfect.
Now for the 2 main differences between these 2 remotes:
First, the programming procedure for the programmable buttons is different on each unit, but one isn't necessarily easier than the other. However, once programmed, you have to click the TV button first in order to use the programmed buttons on the YouKong. You don't have to do this on the ILEBYGO where the programmed buttons operate seamlessly just like all the other buttons. I have now added my Yamaha's volume controls to the ILEBYGO (needed for 5.1 volume control) along with a DPL (Dolby pro logic) button and a Stop button for videos (taken from my Vizio TV remote). The Stop button is really handy for Kodi and other apps to stop movie, TV and audio programs.
Second, you can use the mic on the ILEBYGO just like on the original Shield remote. It's the first button on the 2nd row. It's actually a "search" magnifying glass button but it activates the mic. On the YouKong, neither this button nor the actual Mic button will work with the Shield.
So, here's the deal. If you just buy a remote that looks like the ILEBYGO Backlit MX3, it won't necessarily behave like it. Just look at the 2 remotes in my picture. Except for the colors they're about identical. With this remote, I no longer need my Logitech 400 keyboard, my Bluetooth mouse, my 5.1 receiver remote (usually), or my original Shield remote. I can turn the complete system (including the Shield) off with the remote's Power Button and turn it on by pressing any button.

Good: Works well with my NVidia Shield. I like the keyboard layout, and the fact that it is rechargeable but also the battery is replaceable so I won't have to throw the remote away when the battery stops holding a charge (as all rechargeables eventually do). Not a lot of superfluous buttons.
Bad: The power button has never programmed correctly; I went through the programming sequence and the red light flashed just as the manual said it should but the programming didn't work. The keyboard has to be held with end the front facing the USB key or it misses key presses.
I still like the layout on this and the vendor is awesome, so I'm going to get another one and try that.
It even stated in the questions section that other buyers received units with internal rechargeable batteries so I'm not sure what the deal is? Are they sending out two different remotes to buyers or what??
It also had a handful of buttons that didn't work with my Android OS. Maybe they work with different OS but I found it a waste of space for me and I have found better options.
I was intrigued by the 2 extra media control buttons (FWD/REW). I was hoping these would work in the YouTube player to skip forward or back WITHIN a video. THEY DON'T. The more common buttons that you see included on must remotes are used to skip to next/previous video only.
*If anyone knows of a remote to skip forward/back within a YouTube video pleas let me know...LOL. I really hate when I miss a bit of dialogue and need to go back 5-10 seconds. It's nearly impossible to do so with the mouse using the slider bar.
I also found a better option for a keyboard. The AuviPal G9 keyboard (which I have also reviewed) has the secondary functions on the keyboard in white (rather than blue) and they light up great making it much easier to use in the dark.
Boxed this back up for return within 10 minutes of opening it.

BUT most of the time have to press a button twice, once to wake it up and again for the command.
Now, that you could get used to, however sometimes it responds to button presses the first time as well as lighting up so its NOT consistant in its operation.
ON THE PLUS SIDE: Its nice to have a removable and replaceable battery, but that feature alone is NOT enough to make me want to stay with this one.
Also it is WAY TOO sensitive to vibration.... after using it, if i lay it on top of say my aircleaner, the built in sensors pick up that tiny bit of vibration and it never goes into sleep mode..
Only took me a few houirs to decide ... Sending back
