I love this movie and enjoyed seeing it in the theater with my kids. I was so excited to watch this at home with them! Unfortunately, the sound isn't mixed correctly and the volume of the dialog is TERRIBLE!!! I have to turn up the volume to maximum to even hear what they are saying and then have to turn it down when the music starts playing. It's awful and we couldn't even finish watching it. I'm so disappointed and surprised this Disney product is this poor. Hopefully they can work it out and give me another digital copy? Not sure how that works.

I am really regretting seeing this as it has not only broken my heart about not only the incredibles but also disney for not sticking to something that works... seems contrived to make money and not to entertain...

The Parr family is still Incredible 14 years later, but a big warning to anyone prone to seizures

Many Disney movies have earned a place in my heart over the years, but the Incredibles is still one of my top favorites. It's a Superhero/Pixar movie which already sounds amazing, but then you add a family struggling with relatable real life issues, a great villain, an evil plot, and unsolved disappearances with murders, and you get one of the best Pixar movies of all time. The Incredibles 2 takes a somewhat different approach and isn't as dark as the original, but continues exploring all of the wonderful traits and imperfections that made the Parr family Incredible. In this review, I'll go over three important aspects that made this movie great which includes the characters, the story, and the visuals. As a registered Nurse, I do have to warn anyone who is epileptic and prone to having seizures so please read the bottom section below.

Characters- The great news is that most of the original cast is back from the original Incredibles which is great. The only exception being Dash who needed to be recast since unsurprisingly, the original’s voice changed after 14 years. And although Edna and Frozone are also back and better than ever, the real shining gem of the entire movie was Jack-Jack. I am a firm believer that an entire full length Jack-Jack movie would be huge success. Between Bob's baby-sitting mental breakdown, to a showdown with a burglar raccoon, to becoming a human password for Edna Mode, and finally helping to rescue the mother she loves, Jack-Jack had his time to shine in this movie and it was wonderful. Besides the returning characters, there are some newcomer heroes who are introduced as well, some of which have pretty neat powers. Reflux had my favorite line in the entire movie: "Reflux, medical condition or superpower, you decide". The villain is another story which I’ll talk about next.

Story- After 14 years away and with the pressure of creating a worthy sequel, I wasn't sure which direction Pixar would take or if the sequel slump would take a toll. Overall, the Incredibles 2 improved in some areas and came up short in others compared to the original. From a Superhero/Villain perspective, the Incredibles 2 villain and storyline was a bit transparent, straightforward and overall not as interesting or dark as Syndrome was in the original. Also, even though there is enough action to keep most fans interested, the only Incredibles who had decent time dedicated to further showcasing their power and skills were Elastigirl and Jack-Jack. Mr. Incredible, Dash, Violet and Frozone had their moments in the movie but they still didn’t have the same impact as they had in the original. However, the beauty with this movie is that it chose to emphasize and prioritize on the other attributes that make the Incredibles incredible. Where the original movie shined in terms of exploring the Parr's journey to becoming Supers, the Incredibles 2 shined in showing how they continue to grow and bond as a family. Elastigirl having to carry the mantle for the family while Mr. Incredible was forced to make strides as a father was enjoyable to watch. To me, seeing the Parr family continue to grow together as a family was what made this movie a worthy sequel and an excellent family movie.

Visuals- Although it looked great in 2004, one can't help but notice that the original Incredibles was a visual work in progress compared to some of the more modern Pixar movies. Prior to the sequel being announced, I had always wondered what it would be like if The Incredibles had come out in recent years instead. Fast forward to the Incredibles 2, the differences are apparent as the finale of the Underminer battle looked vastly improved when compared to the original. As the movie progressed, so many details in the textures, lighting, facial features, costumes, world elements, and even hair were more realistic and visually stunning the second time around. Watching both movies back to back is sure to be a real testament to the advancements that Pixar has made throughout the years. I can’t wait to see this movie in 4K HDR.

In the end, The Incredibles 2 does a great job at balancing an action movie and a family drama with comedic flare. It chose to lean more towards being a family movie than a Superhero movie, and I was perfectly fine with that. In all honesty, so much more could have gone wrong with this movie than it actually did. By the end, I was impressed with just how good the movie was, and I was also just happy to see my favorite crime-fighting family back on screen. The Incredibles continue to show that they are a Pixar force to be reckoned with, and I expect that we will be seeing more of the Parr family again in the near future.

For those with Seizure- About halfway in the movie there is a scene where Elastigirl attempts to apprehend the Villain Screenslaver in a warehouse. At some point she enters a room with a computer, the entire room lights up in a strobe light fashion, and a fight scene commences. The fight scene in that room lasts a few minutes, and though I am not prone to seizures, my first thought was about those people who are. I was actually a bit disoriented from that scene (which was kind of the point of the lights), but I can actually imagine how much worse that could be for certain people. If you know anyone who is prone to having seizures, please warn them about that scene. I wouldn't go as far as to say that this movie shouldn't be watched if you are prone to seizures, but to just be very prepared for that scene since it can be a trigger.

Don't get me wrong, this movie was fantastic, it was worth the wait for a new adventure with the Incredibles. The Kids and adults all loved it.

However... The sound quality was very poor on multiple devices. I am unsure if it is a problem with the file or what. We tried it on two tvs and the kindle and all three had the volume going down to inaudible mutliple times throughout the film. Now though I search and search, there is no support from amazon for fixing this issue and now that we have watched it it wont let us get our money back and re-download it.

Very unfortunate as the movie is very good, although not so much when you have to adjust the volume constantly.

The movie itself I thought was fine (4 stars), but I would recommend buying a physical copy and avoid the prime video. I am not sure what happened when it was translated to streaming, but the audio is terrible. It cuts in and out frequently during the movie. I am not sure Amazon will offer a refund, but they should given the quality of the audio makes you miss out on key components of the movie.

Disney and Pixar produced a 3D version of the first Incredibles film but cruelly never bothered releasing it. What a waste, what a tragedy because this sequel really shows how the superhero action benefits from the extra dimension. There's a lot of flying around and looking down from heights, all of which is significantly enhanced by 3D. It looks so good that the film doesn't even feel long at 118 minutes. I had to dock the release one star because Disney and Pixar still fail to understand that 3D films should have things popping out of the screen as well as stretching back into it, but this is still pure class. In 2D this is just another animated feature but in 3D it's something special. That's the magic of 3D and that's the only reason I bought this. If Disney stop releasing 3D Blu-rays I stop buying Disney films, it's that simple.

A new Pixar animation movie. A sequel to their earlier Superhero effort 'the Incredibles.'

This continues literally from where that ended, so whilst you might be able to get into it if you haven't seen the original [and if not why? You've had long enough!] familiarity with that will help.

The Parr family suddenly find they have allies, who wish to bring Superheroes back into the public eye. But it's Elastigirl who gets chosen for that role, whilst Mr. Incredible faces his toughest challenge yet. Running the home front. Dealing with teenage angst is hard enough, but he also has a baby with superpowers to contend with.

And Elastigirl faces a mysterious new villain, who wants people to face some home truths..

It's a Pixar film, so the animation is gorgeous. It does balance the superhero action with the character comedy and the domestics superbly well. The latter is absolutely brilliant at times, and will appeal to kids and adults in equal measure. For different reasons. It's villain is perhaps a bit too obvious, although it does handle their points and motivation rather well.
And like many superhero films the action climax is, while good viewing, perhaps a bit too long.
A perfect movie in so many ways and one all ages can enjoy. But as with Finding Dory, just not quite five stars, simply because Pixar's creative juices are always stronger when they are being original. But still, it's well worth a watch.

There's no extra scenes in the end credits, but there is a little something at the very end. Although it's not essential.

Languages and subtitles on the dvd are:

The disc just begins with the usual disney fast play message, and if you leave it for a few seconds it will then go to the menu. Without trailers or ads for once.

The only extra is Bao, the Pixar short film that played before the movie in the cinemas. A charming little movie about the child parent relationship, it's hugely appealing, although it falters slightly at the end.

It has been a while since the first Incredibles movie was released and I've always been somewhat disappointed that so many other movies have been followed up by Pixar but this one hasn't. Yep, now they have, and the story picks up exactly where it left off with a couple of twists. First, Violet's love life takes a serious left turn as Tony sees her without her mask but in costume and second, we see how the Underminer gets rich quick. However the Underminer isn't the main foe in this one and while he gets away, the family Parr end up in trouble again. After all, the law outlawing supers has yet to be repealed and the mess left behind by the Underminer and the family isn't appreciated. Frozone, however, hooks them up with an entrepreneur who seriously wants to make the supers legal again. He and his sister start off by bringing Elastigirl out of retirement and getting her involved in some serious rescue missions which turn out to be all the doing of a new, mysterious foe, the Screen Slaver. Who is the Screen Slaver? Just what are Jack-Jack's new powers?

The movie takes off where the last one finished and has all the same quirks and action that the first movie had. Edna makes an appearance, so do many of the characters from the original plus a whole new batch of supers. Yes, I enjoyed it hugely!

The DVD comes with another of the Pixar shorts - in Bao, an old chinese woman gets a surprise when one of the dumplings she made suddenly comes to life. A touching piece about a mother's love.

Without Jack-Jack gloriously showcasing a vast range of his powers, this would be a pretty average sequel with some glaring issues, but thanks to that superbaby, 'Incredibles 2' is a fully self-aware sequel which may not feel as fresh or as groundbreaking as its predecessor, but a worthy follow up nevertheless.

Animation is relentlessly breathtaking and humour is executed well but often felt inappropriately placed and frequently undermined serious moments in the film. The plot that is predictable and a super-villain whose secret identity is not very unpredictable and motives are clichéd. The concept behind The Screenslaver cannot be faulted, but execution of the character was underwhelming.

Script work is poor and worsen throughout but character development was strong and delivers effortless fun. Despite its many issues, it's hard not to like.

Disappointing Sequel

Like other three (and two) star reviewers of this film I really enjoyed the original Incredibles and had high hopes when I heard that a sequel was in the works. Well, to cut a long story short: this film can’t hold a candle to the original. It’s as big a misfire as Cars 2 and easily Brad Bird’s worst film to date.

Spoiler alert:

The original Incredibles film ended on a cliffhanger with the appearance of a promising new villain: the Underminer who could be assumed to be an antagonist to rival Syndrome in the original film. This premise for the sequel is wasted: the Underminer disappears within ten minutes of the start never to be seen again (and with his story arc left dangling). As for the Screen Slaver, well when their identity is revealed I could have been knocked over with the proverbial feather. It’s a toss-up between two characters, and Brad Bird chooses the more obvious one! Very predictable.

I could have forgiven all this and simply enjoyed the film if the characters had been spot on, but they’re not. Jack-Jack has far too much screen time – I nearly entitled this review “Jack-Jack attacks – the movie”. I think Brad Bird decides to have fun with Jack-Jack’s powers, but he has more fun than I had as a viewer - shades of John Lasseter and Mater in Cars 2! Dash and Bob Parr (Mr Incredible) are marginalised. Violet Parr has a bit more to do, but not much! Helen Parr (Mrs Incredible) predictably takes centre stage. There are new superhero characters in this film. They look as if they failed the auditions for Wreck-It Ralph! I actually found two of them: one that vomits flaming lava and another who can crush things at will quite scary. Far more scary than Screen Slaver! For once the censor has made the right call: this is definitely a PG!

To sum up this film is basically “not bad” - well it is Pixar, the animation is excellent and even Cars 2 was watchable. Thankfully the more recent Toy Story 4 showed that Pixar can still make a very good sequel. I hope they don’t make Incredibles 3, but if they do a message to Brad Bird: less of Jack-Jack please!
