Customers say

Customers like the ease of use of the transport rack. They mention it's easy to install on their existing roof rack and makes strapping down boards ridiculously easy. However, some customers have reported that it doesn't fit well on factory or aftermarket racks, is not wide enough to fit their SUPs, and the screws that come with the mounting hardware are too long. Opinions are mixed on the rack quality.

Love it! very versatile, quick, secure!!
Awesome rack attachment! So versatile, quick and secure. Best surfboard/SUP rack out there IMO. Been using this and the older version for just surfboards for over 10 years. Still works great!!! Can't say how much I love it!! I've carried boards, kayaks, board blanks, multiple boards in bags on trips, lumber, crab pots... Love it!!! Mine are so old the coating on the stainless cables is gone as is the foil name slide on the arm springs - but still work great. They've been on the car the whole time and used on average once a week. Sweet!

Once you get it set up the first time, this tie-down system is ridiculously easy to use. It goes on and off the roof rack in seconds, and I can easily secure a canoe by myself from one side of the vehicle. Getting it set up the first time took some work, but that was the only time-consuming bit. The only down side now is that it comes with some non-slip rubbery strips that you stick to the side that contacts the roof rack, and those strips tend to bunch up after the first use. I expect them to tear and/or fall off at some point, and then I will need to look for replacement strips.

These things rock because they are by far the fastest way to tie boards down. Seriously it takes only seconds more to secure your gear than it takes just to put the boards up on the roof. Only 4 stars though because they're not really lockable. One side has a lock on it, but the other one does not. So the locks are really just deterrents against casual thieves. Inno really should have put locks on both sides. Sorry to spill the beans fellow Inno owners! Also, the bolts were a little too long for mounting on my ford explorer factory crossbars, so the bolts touch the roof and scratched the paint. This could be easily corrected simply by buying shorter screws though. People connecting to aftermarket roofrack bars which are higher up will not have this problem. But overall, this product makes strapping down boards rediculously easy, so its still a great product.

Love these racks...so much more convenient than straps! I’ve used them with surfboards, prone paddleboard, and a sup. Be aware, if you have a compact car, you may not get enough space between the mounts to fit a wide SUP. For surfboards and prone boards, no problems. I don’t have a sup, so it’s not a problem for me (just occasionally have friends with em). Narrower ones have barely fit (Mercedes c250 with racks).

This is by far the worst rack system I have ever come across. I am a long time Yakima user, but wanted something that could carry our SUPs. The video they have for this makes this look like a gem of a rack and easy to use. Tried to install this on 2 different cars...1 with a Yakima bar system and one with factory roof rack bars. It didn't fit well on either. Then I read it recommends taking the rack off if not in use with the SUPs due to the straps. There is no way I am spending 30-45 minutes putting this on and taking it off every time I want to paddle. Steer clear of this one. I don't know much about any other Inno products, so I don't know if this is typical of Inno, but for SUP transport, this is a giant waste of time.

Awesome rack!! I have it mounted on a 97 land cruiser and surf all year round DAILY in New England. It is SUPER FAST/EASY TO USE!! In single digit freezing temperatures every second matters and this rack is the fastest and most convenient one by far! I even bought a 2nd one for our other family SUV.

I have factory fitted roof rack and cross bars on my 2006 Toyota RAV 4, for most of the srews they seemed to be too long and if tightened completely they would dig into the roof of the car. Secondly it was not wide enought to fit my SUP which is not overly wide. The rack ends were pushed to the furtherest point on the bars and it was not wide enough to fit the board. Very dissapointed.

Clunky rack. securing mechanism to the crossbars is primitive. Difficult to load a big heavy race sup or kayak horizontally. fairly flexible once the board/boat is up there.

This is my second set of these. The first set is still in daily use. These racks are exposed to tropical Hawaiian sun year round and the plastic coating on the wires is starting to disintegrate after 2 years of continuous use. They still work fine, I just bought another set as a back up and to use when the original set gets put on our second car. They are quick to adjust, open, close and lock, and they transport even 16' and 17' downwind boards securely, even in strong winds. The rack will likely fail before these carriers. They are not completely theft proof as a determined crook could defeat the system with a pair of good wire cutters but they at least provide a deterrent. I would recommend the Inno carrier system for either Thule or Yakima rack systems. I'm very happy with the performance, ease of use and features of the Inno carriers.
