This 3160d served me well for the three vehicles I had at the time of purchase. I was able to do some good troubleshooting with it. However, when my wife got a 2018 equinox, it did not work at all. I can deal with the tool becoming obsolete, but the bad taste I got from customer service will prevent me from buying another Innova tool. I emailed them and said the tool would not connect, is it compatable? Is there an update? What they said was "The 3160d is compatible with all vehicles from 1996-2018 pertaining to the check engine light including your 2018 Chevy Equinox." I'm sorry, for the questions asked, that is a poor answer. I called and was read pretty much the same response. Its a very vague, dodging answer. It appears that is the company line on questions like this. After chatting a bit and softening up the rep, I asked, "Since this does not connect at all but works on other vehicles, should I bring my new car back to the dealer to check the obdii port"? The rep finally broke script and said, "No, your car is likely fine and you just have a protocol issue." The reps seem to be instructed to jump around compatibility questions and never to come out and say that your tool is obsolete and we plan no updates for you. If I can't trust them to tell me the the truth about a unit I already own, I can not trust them at all going forward.
I bought an OBDLink MX+ and it connects fine to the 2018 Equinox.
